7 Habits of Highly Effective People - Self Improvement by Stephen Covey

14:09
Get this book: http://amzn.to/2jgxuwM The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, written by Stephen Covey, is a great book on self development and personal improvement. In this video, you will get a complete understanding of all the habits, including examples for each step. Some people have a problem understanding what Synergy is, so we define it along with give a couple examples. Another great tip in this video is the explanations of all types of relationships and the 5 forms of listening. This video is a summary of the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in animated book review format. 1) Be Proactive: Take responsibility and know you’re in charge 2) Start with the end in mind: Have an end goal 3) Put first things first: Do important and non-urgent things first 4) Think Win-Win: Find situations where everyone wins 5) Seek first to understand, then to be understood: Listen before you start talking 6) Synergize: 1 + 1 = 3 7)Sharpen the saw: Invest in yourself for the best ROI My favorite habit is to be proactive. For example, you may have been born into a socioeconomic lower-or-middle-class family, you may have been born into an abusive family, you may have been diagnosed with a terrible illness, but focusing on it will not change it. You know what you can control? This is the secret to being proactive, and in turn, becoming an effective person. You can control your work ethic. You can control how you treat people in your life. You can control if you put your seatbelt on or not. Map of Computer Science

The field of computer science summarised. Learn more at this video's sponsor https://brilliant.org/dos Computer science is the subject that studies what computers can do and investigates the best ways you can solve the problems of the world with them. It is a huge field overlapping pure mathematics, engineering and many other scientific disciplines. In this video I summarise as much of the subject as I can and show how the areas are related to each other. A couple of notes on this video: 1. Some people have commented that I should have included computer security alongside hacking, and I completely agree, that was an oversight on my part. Apologies to all the computer security professionals, and thanks for all the hard work! 2. I also failed to mention interpreters alongside compilers in the complier section. Again, I’m kicking myself because of course this is an important concept for people to hear about. Also the layers of languages being compiled to other languages is overly convoluted, in practice it is more simple than this. I guess I should have picked one simple example. 3. NP-complete problems are possible to solve, they just become very difficult to solve very quickly as they get bigger. When I said NP-complete and then "impossible to solve", I meant that the large NP-complete problems that industry is interested in solving were thought to be practically impossible to solve. I Wanna Be a Lawyer · A Day In The Life Of A Lawyer

04:05
Emma goes to the Supreme Court to find out what a day in the life of a lawyer is like. Check out more information about a career as a lawyer and how to become a lawyer on Student Edge here: https://studentedge.org/career-life/find-a-career/lawyer Want to see more career videos from Student Edge? ↓ Click here https://studentedge.org/career-life/find-a-career What does it take to become a Lawyer? Lawyers provide advice, write documents and conduct negotiations on legal matters, and may represent clients in court and tribunal proceedings. Lawyers are described as solicitors or barristers, depending on the work they do. For more information about student life in Australia, amazing discounts, awesome competitions, news, reviews, forums and so much more check out https://studentedge.org Transcript: Hi I'm Emma and today thanks to Student Edge i'm here at the Supreme Court Gardens to find out exactly what it's like to be a lawyer. Now we've all seen them on TV on CSI, Law and Order and I'm guessing you're probably thinking it's a pretty glamorous job bringing hardened criminals to justice saving the world one case at a time. But i'm going to guess that being a lawyer involves a little more than what we see on TV and today I'm catching up with a real-life lawyer Matthew to find out what it's all about so come on, let's go meet him. The image of the legal profession created by TV shows is certainly heroic and while element of this can be true the on-screen stories represent the smallest tip of the iceberg in terms of the real work done by actual lawyers. Emma, Matthew. Pleasure to meet you. I've got some questions I'd love to ask you about being a lawyer. Excellent well why don't we come over here we'll have a chat about it So, Emma what would you like to know? Matthew I'm here today because i'd love to know what it's really like being a lawyer I'm guessing it's probably not quite the same as what we see on TV. No it's not just the highlight reel, all the intrigue. The majority of the work of a lawyer is actually spent in the office, sometimes long hours and it's researching, it's writing, it's meeting with clients and talking to other lawyers about how to find the best way forward for a client, so it's not the everything you see on TV. Not quite those intense court battles, huh? Look they come up from time to time but they're definitely not the majority of what you see going on at all. What was it that made you decide that you wanted to be a lawyer? I decided I wanted to be a lawyer because I wanted to help people and law fundamentally is about helping people. Alright Matt it's now time for you to give us the edge, I've got three questions the first question is what qualities or characteristics make somebody a good fit to be a lawyer? I think attention to detail, a passion for the law and being a people person. Would you say that it's possible for somebody to actually do some work experience with a lawyer before they decide to become one? A lot of films will allow high school students to come in for a day or even a week to do work experience through the high school programs so they can experience and see what it's like in the legal office and how it works. Quite often you have to set that up through a contact or someone you know or you can go through the law society they can quite often put teachers and students in contact with a lawyer that can take a work experience person because it is really important to get to see what it would be like before you go into it. The other thing is there are so many different practices of law and specialities that each of them is quite different and just because you find that one doesn't work for you another one might be something that you're really interested in. And finally, if you could change one thing but still end up where you are today what would you have done differently? I think the one thing I would have done differently is find out more about the job and more about how to get into those roles in the legal profession earlier. I'm really happy with where I got to and the work that I do, but what I have found is I probably could have got there maybe quicker or without with bit less effort if I found out more about it earlier. Well thanks for your time today I really appreciate it. Just one last thing um, I got this parking ticket... Well I'm a lawyer and City of Perth is right there i'm sure we can sort it out it'll be fine. As you may have suspected being a lawyer involves far more than what you see on TV. The biggest part of your job is to make sure you provide your clients with expert legal advice and assistance through what can often be stressful and traumatic situations. And remember what Matt said to be a successful lawyer you've got to have excellent communication skills so, to get involved log on to https://studentedge.org and follow the links.

How Does the Bankruptcy Law Help Debtors? A History of Debt & the Legal System (2002)

01:06:50
Bankruptcy in the United States is a matter placed under federal jurisdiction by the United States Constitution which allows Congress to enact "uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States." About the book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0691116377/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0691116377&linkCode=as2&tag=tra0c7-20&linkId=3a6cd9263b4beea9c6f0f8173adf6780 The Congress has enacted statutes governing bankruptcy, primarily in the form of the Bankruptcy Code, located at Title 11 of the United States Code. Federal law is amplified by state law in some places where Federal law fails to speak or expressly defers to state law. While bankruptcy cases are always filed in United States Bankruptcy Court (an adjunct to the U.S. District Courts), bankruptcy cases, particularly with respect to the validity of claims and exemptions, are often dependent upon State law. One example: two states, Maryland and Virginia, which are adjoining states, have different personal exemption amounts that cannot be seized for payment of debts. This amount is the first $6,000 in property or cash in Maryland, but only the first $5,000 in Virginia. State law therefore plays a major role in many bankruptcy cases, and it is often not possible to generalize bankruptcy law across state lines. Generally, a debtor declares bankruptcy to obtain relief from debt, and this is accomplished either through a discharge of the debt or through a restructuring of the debt. Generally, when a debtor files a voluntary petition, his or her bankruptcy case commences. There are six types of bankruptcy under the Bankruptcy Code, located at Title 11 of the United States Code: Chapter 7: basic liquidation for individuals and businesses; also known as straight bankruptcy; it is the simplest and quickest form of bankruptcy available Chapter 9: municipal bankruptcy; a federal mechanism for the resolution of municipal debts Chapter 11: rehabilitation or reorganisation, used primarily by business debtors, but sometimes by individuals with substantial debts and assets; known as corporate bankruptcy, it is a form of corporate financial reorganisation which typically allows companies to continue to function while they follow debt repayment plans Chapter 12: rehabilitation for family farmers and fishermen; Chapter 13: rehabilitation with a payment plan for individuals with a regular source of income; enables individuals with regular income to develop a plan to repay all or part of their debts; also known as Wage Earner Bankruptcy Chapter 15: ancillary and other international cases; provides a mechanism for dealing with bankruptcy debtors and helps foreign debtors to clear debts. The most common types of personal bankruptcy for individuals are Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Whether a person qualifies for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 is in part determined by income. [23]As much as 65% of all U.S. consumer bankruptcy filings are Chapter 7 cases. Corporations and other business forms file under Chapters 7 or 11. Often called "straight bankruptcy" or "simple bankruptcy," it allows consumers to eliminate just about all of their debts over a period of three or four months. Typically, the only bills that survive a Chapter 7 are student loans, child support obligations, some tax bills and criminal fines. Credit cards, pay day loans, personal loans, medical bills, and just about all other bills are discharged. 91% of U.S. individuals filing bankruptcy hire an attorney to file their Chapter 7 petition.[24] The typical cost of an attorney is $1,170.00.[24] Alternatives to filing with an attorney are: filing pro se, meaning without an attorney, which requires an individual to fill out at least sixteen separate forms,[25] hiring a petition preparer (which have a track record of shoddy work and unsuccessful cases),[26] or using online software to generate the petition. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bankruptcy

Joe Tock's office was very thorough. They gave us a list of everything that we needed to give them and they were very patient with us getting the information together. Your will is a very important document, but if there's a small business involved, you really have to integrate all of the documents so that you have a game plan, so that our clients know that they have the confidence when something happens that their affairs are in order. We were involved in another estate account which they also helped us with to make sure that that got pushed through quicker and that things moved along. His thoroughness in everything that he did was, to me they did a very good job and were very quick with it. Let more than 30 years of trial experience work for you. Law Offices of Joseph J. Despite the requirements for annual pro bono work, and the great benefits this has conferred to indigent clients, it is not without its problems. Confusion over the limits of responsibility to non-paying clients, potential conflicts of interests, and concerns over diminished quality of work for pro bono clients are but a few of the challenges facing pro bono lawyering in America.

Because you’re in law school, could you take a look at these divorce papers my ex sent me and tell me if they’re okay? I can’t afford a lawyer.”
