Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town. You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com New York City is often referred to as the greatest city in the world and we can see why. Just the energy alone is magnetic. But before you consider yourself an NYC expert, check out these 13 things you should not do in the Big Apple. 1. Don't buy a Sandwich from Subway NYC offers some of the best fresh delicatessens in the world like the Carnegie Deli, Artie’s Delicatessen and 2nd Avenue Deli on 33rd street. But avoid Katz’s as it has turned into a huge tourist trap. 2. Don't Get into an Empty Subway Car There’s a reason that it’s empty. Either the A/C isn’t working or there’s spilled bodily fluid or something is up. Trust us! 3. Don't Stop on the Sidewalk Do not be that tourist that stops in the middle of the sidewalk to look at a map or to take a photo. New Yorkers are speed-walking pros so don’t impede the flow. 4. Don't Make Small Talk New Yorkers are not necessarily known for their calm, patient, friendly demeanor, so don't expect to spark up idle chit chat on the street. They're usually happy to give directions but only to prove how well they know the city. 5. Don't Eat at a Chain Restaurant Locals avoid Times Square like the plague as it is a tourist trap with lots of chain restaurants and visitors wearing “I LOVE NY” t-shirts (oh, yeah avoid this too). Patronize the myriad of local restaurants to really experience the authentic flavors of the city. 6. Don't Avoid the Outer Boroughs Manhattan is usually what most people think of when they visit New York, but there are four other boroughs to explore too. Take the subway to Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn or Staten Island and discover the unique charm of greater New York City. 7. Don't Pay for a Statue of Liberty Tour Avoid this outrageously priced tour and take the Staten Island ferry instead. The 50 minute round-trip ride passes most of the same sights and is completely free of charge. 8. Don't Skip a Museum Because of the Entry Fee The entry fee that you see for most of New York's world renowned museums is just a suggested amount. You actually only have to pay what you can afford. 9. Don't Use an ATM Inside of a Store Some store owners that don’t accept credit cards but provide a convenient ATM inside their shops. However, it's a trap! These machines often charge an excessive withdrawal fee! 10. Don't Assume It’s Safe to Cross the Street Many tourists wander across the street because they see groups of other people doing so. Fast-walking New Yorkers will make it safely to the other side because they have the well-honed instincts of a local. You, however, do not. Wait for the pedestrian light if you value your life. 11. Don't Tell the Cab Driver Where You’re Going Before Getting In This way the picky driver won't be able to tell you they’re not going that far. Hail the cab, hop in and then explain where you’d like to go. Use the subway or walk as much as possible, because taxis will most likely end up stuck in gridlock traffic. 12. Don't Be a Scam Victim Don’t buy blank CD's from aspiring young rappers or be fooled by the man dressed in a suit asking for bus fare. Avoid playing card games on the street and watch your wallet in large crowds. New York is full of scam artists, so keep your guard up. 13. Avoid the High Line on Weekends This public park built atop an old elevated railway on Manhattan's West Side is definitely worth strolling, but avoid the weekends when it's a wall-to-wall tourist-clogged conveyor belt. Now you've got the NYC street smarts, you're ready for the city that never sleeps!

New York City is an amazing place with lots to see and do. After visiting all of the usual tourist attractions, try one of these 3 free stops that aren't as well known. We lived in midtown east for 3 years, right in the heart of Manhattan. After showing our friends around for the past week on our trip to NYC, we thought we'd share a few of our favorite "off the beaten path" spots. Along with these three we really like the new High Line, Central Park, and 911 Memorial. 10 weird attractions in New York City. As a huge tourist destination, NYC has a range of unique things to do, and many of them are quite WEIRD! If you are looking for something off the beaten tourist path in New York City, this video is for you! Some of the weird things in New York City include: 1 - The Mmuseumm, which is a tiny museum housed in a New York freight elevator specializes in the "overlooked, dismissed, or ignored." 2 - The Evolution Store in Soho It's like the Museum of Natural History except you can buy what's on display! 3 - Doyers Street A 200-foot-long (61 m) street in the heart of Chinatown. It is one block in length and has a sharp bend in the middle. For a time, its sharp curve earned Doyle Street the nickname of “Bloody Angle,” as it was the site of numerous gang street battles and murders. 4 - City Hall Station A beautiful and abandoned New York subway station from 1904, complete with chandelier. Built as part of the original NYC Subway line, this was one of the most beautiful but least used stations. 5- Roosevelt Island Smallpox Hospital Ruins A crumbling hospital from the 1850s on Roosevelt Island. 6 - New York Earth Room 280,000 pounds of Manhattan dirt, filling a 3,600-square-foot room. 7 - The Slipper Room The Slipper Room is one of the city's more popular theater and nightlife lounges that features some of the most interesting shows in New York City. Here you'll find burlesque and variety shows that have been around since 1999. It’s home to magicians, aerialists, burlesque performers, comedians, musicians, and fire performers. 8 - Coney Island Circus Sideshow It's where you can see a proper sideshow, with acts like a human blockhead, a sword-swallower, a contortionist, and more 9 - Joe Allen Restaurant Dine Among Broadway flops at Joe Allen. Situated in Broadway, Joe Allen is the perfect place for pre-theatre dining. 10 - The Morris-Jumel Mansion Known as one of most haunted place in New York City. We were on a mission to find the best things to do in Buffalo, NY and were really surprised at all the thing you can do! Buffalo has a ton of culture, ever-present history and some amazing food to eat. We visited Buffalo's Canalside, Riverworks, Larkin Square for Food Truck Tuesday and we even took a kayak tour down the river with Elevator Alley Kayak. In the end we were amazed that there were so many fun things to do in Buffalo and know we'll be back to experience more of the city soon. This video was made in partnership with Visit Buffalo Niagara. If you're planning on visiting Buffalo, or even if you live there, Elevator Alley Kayak Tours is a must! You can rent your own or take a tour. Your tour guide will take you down the Buffalo River and explain the history of the river, grain elevators and surrounding area. Food Truck Tuesdays in Buffalo's Larkin Square is fantastic to us because we are food truck lovers! Larkin Square has different events almost everyday during the summer. We love food trucks so much, we found a taco truck named Lloyds in buffalo and made a video about their delicious food. We highly recommend you find one of their trucks on the streets of Buffalo while you're there. For more of the 140-year-old Richardson Olmsted Complex and the rebirth of the building to become a Hotel Henry location and when the construction will be done. The largest and most populated city in the USA, New York City is often called the “city that never sleeps” because it is constantly buzzing with activity. The metropolis is the nexus of culture, art, architecture, history and entertainment. With so much to see and do in the city, it can be overwhelming to a New York novice. This comprehensive list outlines the top tourist attractions in New York City that travelers won’t find anywhere else #5: Brooklyn Bridge- The Brooklyn Bridge, built between 1869 and 1883, is one of the oldest and most recognizable suspension bridges in the world. It spans 5,989 feet and connects Manhattan to Brooklyn across the East River. More than 120,000 vehicles, 4,000 pedestrians and 2,600 bicyclists cross the bridge every day. Visitors to the bridge can walk, drive, or bike across this famous New York City landmark. There is a pedestrian walkway situated above the traffic, where visitors can take in views of the harbor and both boroughs. The 2 km (1.3 mile) stroll across the bridge offers plenty of opportunities for admiring the New York skyline. #4: Times Square- With over 39 million visitors annually, Times Square is the world’s most visited tourist attraction. The bright lights and big city feel of this commercial intersection have iconified this spot as “The Crossroad of the World.” Today, Times Square is a major center of the world’s entertainment industry. The annual New Year’s Eve ball drop, which began in 1907, has been a staple of the square’s allure. The shopping, entertainment and plethora of restaurants offer many activities and options for every type of visitor. It’s an area not to be missed on a trip to New York City. #3: Central Park- Located in the center of Manhattan, Central Park is a sprawling 840 acres and home to Belvedere Castle, the Central Park Zoo among many other attractions. For naturalists looking to take a break from the big city, relaxing in the Great Lawn or a walk along the extensive paths throughout the park can offer a much needed respite. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to entertain visitors including catch and release fishing at the Dana Discovery Center, rowboat rentals from the Loeb Boathouse. The park boasts six miles of paved roads open only to joggers, bicyclists as well as skateboarders and inline skaters. Central Park is also especially friendly for families with playgrounds and the Tisch Children’s Zoo #2: Empire State Building- The iconic Empire State Building soars over a quarter of a mile above Manhattan and offers expansive views to the millions of visitors it attracts every year. On a clear day, visitors can see New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. There are two observations decks in the tower, on the 86th floor and 102nd floor. Both offer impressive views and interesting facts about the building’s extensive history and importance. The Empire State Building has made appearances in over 250 films and was named “America’s Favorite Architecture.” It is open daily from 9:30am until midnight and tickets can be purchased at the counter or online. #1: Statue of Liberty- The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the United States, has welcomed new arrivals to the shores of America for over a hundred years. Lady Liberty on her pedestal stands at an impressive 93 meters (305 feet), which visitors can climb for views of Brooklyn and Gustave Eiffel’s supportive framework. For those who choose not to climb the 154 steps to the crown, the pedestal offers panoramic views of the harbor and downtown New York City. Guided tours of Liberty Island are offered throughout the day by Park Rangers and a self-guided audio, offered in nine languages, tour is included with a ferry ticket to the island
