Do you want to visit the best places in San Francisco? Lots of research went into creating this San Francisco travel guide with the most unique attractions, things to do, best places to visit and foods to eat for San Francisco. Subscribe to my channel ► https://bit.ly/2aeuh9b for weekly videos! Maps, addresses & photos including my personal advise: http://www.reformatt.com/15-hidden-secrets-san-francisco Create videos & vlog like me by using the same camera: Sony DSCHX80 http://amzn.to/2pEtSpT San Francisco is an absolute gem in the United States, it is so different from the east coast that it almost feels like being in another country. To really admire the city and get a good panoramic view drive to the top of Hawk Hill on the northern side of the Golden Gate bridge. I went for a bike ride along Fisherman's Wharf with my long lost friend Serge, who I just to jam with in Tokyo back in 2007. We had dinner at the Eagle Cafe at Pier 39 and ordered San Francisco's most famous soup: Lobster Bisque, truly unbeatable! No trip to San Francisco is complete without dropping by the Painted Ladies at Alamo Square park which used to be part of the intro of the Fullhouse TV series. One of our funniest finds was this Yoda Fountain next to the Lucasfilm studios, a true destination for any Star Wars nerd. I truly believe that the best way to explore San Francisco is to visit most attractions by bicycle, it can be quite challenging at times, due to the steep streets, but it will be well worth once you go down Lombard Street, the crooked street in the world! Another interesting spot was the wooden Burning Man temple at Patricia's Green park in the center of the city which was covered in lots of writing, love declarations and autographs. Surprisingly, I found this Dutch windmill at the most western tip of Golden Gate park surrounded by lots of tulips. The weather in San Francisco can be hit-or-miss, which truly sucks if you want to get great outdoor photos at all its scenic destinations, so do have some indoor events planned as an alternative. I highly recommend: Musee Mecanique, Mirror Maze, Fisherman Wharf's fish market, Eagle Cafe, Alcatraz and Exploratorium for all your indoor activities. Two international Local Guides explore one U.S. city. In this episode of Local Guides Investigate, we send Koffi Kelvin from Kenya and Pablo Sanchez from Nicaragua on a San Francisco adventure to check out some of the coolest beaches and nature that the Bay Area has to offer. And yes, we mean coolest literally - as we learned in this episode, SF is a LOT chillier than Kenya.

San Francisco has no shortage of beaches. Enjoy beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach or jog along the sandy shores of Ocean Beach. Travel a little further outside of the city and relax at the local shores of Stinson Beach and Bolinas Beach.

Baker Beach is a public beach on the peninsula of San Francisco, California, U.S.. The beach lies on the shore of the Pacific Ocean in the northwest of the city. It is roughly a half mile (800 m) long, beginning just south of Golden Gate Point (where the Golden Gate Bridge connects with the peninsula), extending southward toward the Seacliff peninsula, the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Sutro Baths. The northern section of Baker Beach is "frequented by clothing-optional sunbathers". As such it is considered a nude beach. Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby. Stretching a mile below the rugged cliffs on the Presidio’s western shoreline, Baker Beach’s spectacular outside-the-Gate views of the Bridge and the Marin Headlands are unsurpassed. Stinson Beach was named to honor largest local landlords, the Stinson family who bought the land in 1866. The park has spacious picnic area at the parking lot, which is currently undergoes some improvement. Pets are allowed only on the north part of the beach. The population of the area started to grow after 1916 when people affected by the earthquake in San Francisco moved in. See more weekend recipes for outdoor fun around San Francisco, California. Took a quick trip over to Ocean Beach in San Francisco today to see the up-to-40-foot swells. Didn't catch anything nearly that big, but the waves were impressive. There was also a peculiar foam littering the beach, which, combined with the wind, seemed to slide around like little snails. Camera: Canon 80D 24-105/F4 L Music: Caught in the Rain by Aso

Rockaway beach near Pacifica South of San Francisco is a popular destination due to the combination of great coastal views, fine dining, surfing, and hiking. In 2016, the town had its first annual Dog Surfing Championship. The modern history of this place is connected to its geological features. There used to be a limestone quarry supplying materials to paint buildings in San Francisco and for making the track bed of the railroad. The railroad made this area easily accessible from San Francisco at the beginning of twentieth century. However, at one point the railroad went bankrupt and stopped functioning but the access was eventually restored via highway number 1 in the nineteen thirties. The boulders along the shores in front of the parking lot are meant to protect the nearby buildings from erosion. There are trails on the cliffs surrounding the beach and birds of prey are often observed. Beautiful views for those who made it to the top After storms you can spot some strange creatures washed out on the beach. These yellow blobs are the colonies of coral-like animals called bryozoans. The name literally means “moss animals”. Thanks for watching! Subscribe to our channel to see more places. And have a great time traveling California!

Ocean Beach is a beach that runs along the west coast of San Francisco, California, United States, at the Pacific Ocean. It is adjacent to Golden Gate Park, the Richmond District, and the Sunset District. The Great Highway runs alongside the beach, and the Cliff House and the site of the former Sutro Baths sit at the northern end. The beach is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which is administered by the National Park Service. During the late spring and summer, San Francisco's characteristic foggy weather frequently envelops the beach, resulting in average temperatures of 50 °F to 55 °F (9 °C to 12 °C) and discouraging visitation by tourists and beach goers. However, the beach is popular with surfers and participants in bonfire parties. More beach-friendly weather occurs in late fall and early spring, when fog is less prevalent. On November 6, 2011, Ocean Beach played site to a monumental achievement in the sport of surfing. In the Rip Curl Pro surfing contest, the legendary Kelly Slater won his unprecedented 11th ASP world championship at the age of 39. This was the only one of his championships won in the continental United States. The water at Ocean Beach is noteworthy for its strong currents and waves, which makes it popular among serious surfers. The water is cold, due in part to a process known as upwelling, in which frigid water from below the ocean surface rises to replace the surface water that moves away from the beach as a result of the Coriolis effect. The rapid rip currents and cold water make the ocean dangerous for casual swimmers and even those who simply want to set foot in it, and swimmers have been swept away and drowned. Nevertheless, the beach is one of the Bay Area's top surfing spots. The southern portion of the beach by Sloat Boulevard is one of the cleanest in the state.

Marshall's Beach - San Francisco One of the best-kept secrets in San Francisco was once accessed only by brave souls willing to scramble down bluffs through poison oak and pricklers. Today, Marshall's Beach is easily reached by the eco-friendly Batteries to Bluffs Trail courtesy of Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Wooden stairs and dirt paths wind down to the most private beach in town. Bring a picnic and dine on views spanning the Golden Gate, from Land's End in San Francisco to Marin's Point Bonita Lighthouse. The views are so good you might just be inspired to strip down to your knickers. Yep, like many secret beaches, Marshall's Beach is favored by the clothing-optional crowd. Enjoy the sunset (or full moon). Park at one of two entrances on Lincoln Blvd. in the Presidio. One is just south of Fort Scott, on the west side of the road near the "Coyote Crossing" sign, and the other is about .5 mile south down Lincoln Blvd. with a small "Batteries to Bluffs" sign on the west side of the road (map). At either entrance, follow the Batteries to Bluffs Trail toward Marshall's Beach. It's .3 mile (one-way) to the beach. You can also make a loop (approximately 1.2 miles) by using the California Coastal Trail to bring you back to your starting point. No dogs.

High and strong tide at San Francisco Ocean Beach. This shows how rip currents are forming. Here the current is well visible at the surface, but the same phenomena can happen below the surface creating a very dangerous trap for the swimmers or even for people walking along the beach. Each year several people die at Ocean Beach as they are taken off shore by strong rip currents.
