The 10 Best Places To Live In Connecticut - For 2018 ============= ► Subscribe for latest video ! ► https://goo.gl/lOasu9 ► Follow me on Twitter: https://goo.gl/srKHao ► Facebook: https://goo.gl/yB9XvG ============= Connecticut is one of the most charming of all the American states, known for its rich history, its academia, its beautiful autumns, and its sunny summers by the beach. With a rustic mix of coastal towns and rural havens, there is a lot to love about this area of New England. Unlike many US states, Connecticut has access to the coast; calling all surfers, sand lovers and beach bums! Being on the Atlantic Coast the weather can be harsh at times but when the sun shines over Connecticut it is glorious. From New Haven to Mystic there is always something to discover in Connecticut. Mystic, for example, is famous for its Seaport museum which houses ancient sailing ships, and the Mystic Aquarium too that houses the Beluga Whales. Regardless of whether you end up in this part of the world, there are certain baseline requirements that your new homestead must meet. From access to good public schools for those with young children and easy access to commuter routes for those who have to travel to work, there is an awful lot to think about. Connecticut has some of the most desirable real estate in the country, some of the best classrooms for your kiddos, low crime rates, and even more still, particularly in a select few places. Here are the 10 best places to live in Connecticut for 2018: 1. Darien. 2. Ridgefield. 3. West Hartford. 4. Manchester. 5. Brookfield. 6. Old Greenwich. 7. Fairfield. 8. Shelton. 9. Middletown. 10. Cos Cob. Thanks for watching this video. I hope it's useful for you. Connecticut's first European settlers were Dutch. They established a small, short-lived settlement in present-day Hartford at the confluence of the Park and Connecticut rivers called Huys de Goede Hoop. Connecticut was one of the Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution. Although Connecticut is technically part of New England, it is often grouped along with New York and New Jersey as the Tri-state area. 2. Notice how quickly you pass through Connecticut while taking a road trip? That’s because it’s the nation’s third-smallest state. However, that doesn’t deter people from moving there. Connecticut is the fourth most densely populated state, and it also has the 29th largest population. 3. In 1901, CT passed the first ever automobile law. The speed limit was set at 12 miles per hour. Hold on to your hats, although if you were carousing down a country road, you could get away with 15. 4. Groton, CT, also known as the Submarine Capital of the World, is home of the official submarine museum of the United States Navy. The world’s first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus, is docked at the Submarine Force Museum. 5. The first ever helicopter was built in Connecticut in 1939. On September 14, 1939, the VS-300, the world’s first practical helicopter, took flight at Stratford, Connecticut. Designed by Igor Sikorsky and built by the Vought-Sikorsky Aircraft Division of the United Aircraft Corporation, the helicopter was this first to incorporate a single main rotor and tail rotor design. 6. Hartford is the capital of the U.S. state of Connecticut. As of the 2010 Census, Hartford's population was 124,775, making it Connecticut's third-largest city after the coastal cities of Bridgeport and New Haven. The city was founded in 1635 and is among the oldest cities in the United States. Following the American Civil War, Hartford was the richest city in the United States for several decades. Today, Hartford is one of the poorest cities in the nation, with 3 out of every 10 families living below the poverty line. In sharp contrast, the Hartford metropolitan area is ranked 32nd of 318 metropolitan areas in total economic production and 7th out of 280 metropolitan statistical areas in per capita income. Highlighting the socio-economic disparity between Hartford and its suburbs, 83% of Hartford's jobs are filled by commuters from neighboring towns who earn over $80,000, while 75% of Hartford residents who commute to work in other towns earn just $40,000. 7. Yale University is also in New Haven. Founded in 1701, it boasts the distinction of being the nation’s third-oldest university. Driving Downtown Streets - Main Street - Hartford Connecticut USA - Episode 73. Starting Point: https://goo.gl/maps/MHkgeBW1ydr . Hartford is the capital of Connecticut and the historic seat of Hartford County until Connecticut disbanded county government in 1960. As of the 2010 Census, Hartford's population was 124,775, making it Connecticut's third-largest city after the coastal cities of Bridgeport and New Haven. Census Bureau estimates since then have indicated Hartford's subsequent fall to fourth place statewide as a result of sustained population growth in the coastal city of Stamford. Nicknamed the "Insurance Capital of the World", Hartford houses many insurance company headquarters, and insurance remains the region's major industry. Founded in 1637, Hartford is among the oldest cities in the United States. Hartford is home to the nation's oldest public art museum, the Wadsworth Atheneum; the oldest publicly funded park, Bushnell Park; the oldest continuously published newspaper, The Hartford Courant; the second-oldest secondary school, Hartford Public; Trinity College, an elite, private liberal arts college, and the Mark Twain House where the author wrote his most famous works and raised his family, among other historically significant attractions. In 1868, resident Mark Twain wrote, "Of all the beautiful towns it has been my fortune to see this is the chief." Following the American Civil War, Hartford was the richest city in the United States for several decades. Today, Hartford is one of the poorest cities in the nation with 3 out of every 10 families living below the poverty line. Economy Hartford is the historic international center of the insurance industry, with companies such as Aetna, Conning & Company, The Hartford, The Phoenix Companies, UnitedHealthcare and Hartford Steam Boiler based in the city, and companies such as Travelers and Lincoln National Corporation having major operations in the city. The city is also home to the corporate headquarters of U.S. Fire Arms and United Technologies. From the 19th century until the mid-20th century, Hartford was a major manufacturing city. During the Industrial Revolution into the mid-20th century, the Connecticut River Valley cities produced many major precision manufacturing innovations. Among these was Hartford's pioneer bicycle (and later) automobile maker Pope. As in nearly all former Northern manufacturing cities, many factories have been closed, relocated, or reduced operations. Aetna and the Hartford Financial Services Group, both Fortune 100 companies, are headquartered in Hartford. Travelers Insurance has its largest national employment center and historical headquarters in the city. CIGNA insurance is headquartered in the region with a presence in Hartford and its suburb Bloomfield. United Health Insurance has a significant presence in the city. Hartford is a center for medical care, research, and education. Within Hartford itself the city includes Hartford Hospital, The Institute of Living, Connecticut Children's Medical Center, and Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center (which merged in 1990 with Mount Sinai Hospital). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hartford,_Connecticut https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g33804-Activities-Hartford_Connecticut.html https://www.facebook.com/places/Things-to-do-in-Hartford-Connecticut/108119482550253/ https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USCT0094:1:US

In this video, we'll see scenes shot over the course of two days. Saturday was sunnier than Sunday, so don't be alarmed by the gloomy weather in some scenes. 2-8-2 Mikado #40 is handling the excursions, and she is quite a sight! Wearing a beautiful 3-chimed whistle, we'll follow #40 and her train north from Essex to Hadlyme. We'll then watch the train back into Deep River to perform the run-around maneuver. Once ready to head south, we'll climb aboard the Friends of the Valley RR caboose for a ride right behind (well in front of) #40 as she work upgrade out of Deep River. With breath-taking scenery, and fabulous equipment, the Valley Railroad is a place that no railfan should over-look! For more info on the FVRR, visit thier site at www.essexsteamtrain.com/fvrr .

Driving Downtown Streets - Greenwich Avenue - Greenwich Connecticut USA - Episode 37. Starting Point: https://goo.gl/maps/UzBgHh1tav12 . Greenwich is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is home to many hedge funds and other financial service companies. Greenwich is the southernmost and westernmost municipality in Connecticut. It is 38+ minutes by train (express) from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. The largest town on Connecticut's Gold Coast, CNN/Money and Money magazine ranked Greenwich first on its list of the "100 Best Places to Live in the United States" in 2005. The town is named after Greenwich, a borough of London in the United Kingdom. Wealth Both the Official AENGLC Wealth Value and the CPR AENGLC Wealth Value show Greenwich as having the highest wealth value in Connecticut at over $930,000 per person. The AENGLC is based on the value of residential and commercial real estate and measures the town's tax base available to pay for public education(see Conn. Dep of Ed). It is not a measure of the personal wealth of individual residents. New Canaan is the wealthiest town in Connecticut, with a per capita income of $100,824, second is Darien at $95,577 and Greenwich third at $92,759 per the 2010 Census. Median family income in New Canaan at $220,278 also is higher than Greenwich at $167,825. Greenwich was the highest income place with a population of 50,000 or more in 2000. However, using the list of the 100 richest places in the United States with at least 1,000 households yields a different result. This is the most common list used for referring to the richest communities in the country, as it eliminates any places with unsubstantial populations. On this list Greenwich ranks 56th after New Canaan at 30th, Darien at 42nd, and Weston at 55th. The median price for a single-family home in town was $1.7 million in 2006, when about 140 properties sold for $5 million or more, according to Prudential Connecticut Realty. In 2007, the highest asking prices for residential property in town were $39.5 million for the 76-acre (310,000 m2) estate of actor Mel Gibson on Old Mill Road, $19.7 million for a 13,000-square-foot (1,200 m2) mansion on 8.7 acres (35,000 m2) with a private lake, and $38 million for an estate with formal gardens and a greenhouse the size of a cottage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwich,_Connecticut

Based on a chilling true story, Lionsgate's THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT charts one family's terrifying, real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural. When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner's clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover. Now unspeakable terror awaits, when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the dead, returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.

"Backpack Kid" goes to prom! Just look at 16-year-old Russell Horning and his date for the night busting out into his signature "flossing" move he popularized on "SNL" during a performance alongside Katy Perry. Horning went to the New Haven, Conn., dance to surprise Libby Gardner, who had emailed him an invitation but never heard back! Little did Libby know, Amazon Teen was secretly planning the whole thing. InsideEdition.com's Leigh Scheps (http://twitter.com/LeighTVReporter) has more.

We asked six West-Coasters to sit down and try the distinct and delicious food of Connecticut. From thinking clam pizza is chicken to starting drama with a judgmental Pez dispenser, their reactions are hilarious. This is a total must-see for anyone in the Nutmeg State.
