Independence day is near. And our patriotism is also waking up as the day comes closer. But should we just keep it limited to show it on social media? What we do on independence day is consider it as a public holiday and plan for trips or partying out or resting. But we never do use it for our country. This independence day, at least go to the nearest schools, colleges or offices And salute the flag and show the respect to those soldiers who risk their lives for us. ኣብ አስመራ The Independence Day of Eritrea is one of the most important public holidays in the country. It is observed on May 24 every year. The war ended on May 24, 1991. The 24th anniversary of our Independence Day is unique. We celebrate Eritrea’s Independence Day because it is the single most important day for Eritrean people, a day of commemorating the anniversary of the declaration of our Independence. On May 1991, Ethiopian colonial occupation came to an end, heralding the birth of Eritrea as a sovereign and independent nation. This is the day in which Eritrean people achieved and declared their destiny in one voice: to govern themselves as an independent and sovereign people. This is the day in which Eritreans stood on their own two feet. It is a day we pay tribute, pay homage, and commorate the hundreds and thousands brave Eritrean leaders, legends, and heroic fighters who fought and died to ensure our independence and sovereignty. This Independence Day belongs to Eritrean people and has equal weight for every Eritrean regardless of religion, ethnic, highlander or lowlander. The Independence Day of Eritrea is one of the most important public holidays in the country. It is observed on May 24 every year. On this day in 1991, Eritrean People's Liberation Front forces moved into the capital Asmara, reinstating independence, following a 30-year-long battle against the Ethiopian military regime. Philippine Independence Day

Philippine Independence Day. Memories Independence Day (Filipino: Araw ng Kasarinlan; also known as Araw ng Kalayaan, (or "Day of Freedom") is an annual national holiday in the Philippines observed on June 12, commemorating the Philippine Declaration of Independence from Spain on June 12, 1898. Since 1962, it has been the country's National Day. The day of celebration of independence varied throughout the nation's history. The earliest recorded was on April 12, 1895, when Andres Bonifacio, along with Emilio Jacinto, Restituto Javier, Guillermo Masangkay, Aurelio Tolentino, Faustino Manalak, Pedro Zabala and few other katipuneros went to Pamitinan Cave in Montalban, Rizal to initiate new members of the Katipunan. Bonifacio wrote Viva la independencia Filipina! or Long Live Philippine independence on walls of the cave to express the goal of their secret society. Bonifacio also led the Cry of Pugad Lawin, which signals the beginning of Philippine Revolution. Members of the Katipunan, led by Andres Bonifacio, tore their community tax certificates (cedulas personales) in protest of Spanish conquest. In 1896 the Philippine Revolution began and in December 1897 the Pact of Biak-na-Bato, an agreement between the Spanish colonial government and the revolutionaries, established a truce. Under its terms, Emilio Aguinaldo and other revolutionary leaders went into exile in Hong Kong. At the outbreak of the Spanish–American War, Commodore George Dewey sailed from Hong Kong to Manila Bay leading the Asiatic Squadron of the U.S. Navy. On May 1, 1898, the Dewey defeated the Spanish in the Battle of Manila Bay, effectively putting the U.S. in control of the Spanish colonial government. Later that month, the U.S. Navy transported Aguinaldo back to the Philippines.[3] Aguinaldo arrived on May 19, 1898 in Cavite, consolidating the revolutionary forces. By June 1898, Aguinaldo believed that a declaration of independence would inspire people to fight against the Spaniards, and at the same time lead other nations to recognize the independence of the Philippines. On June 5, 1898, Aguinaldo issued a decree setting aside June 12, 1898 as the day of the proclamation of independence. Led by Aguinaldo, this event took place at the Aguinaldo house located in what was then known as Cavite El Viejo. The Acta de la Proclamacion de la Independencia del Pueblo Filipino was solemnly read by its author, Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista, Aguinaldo’s war counselor and special delegate. The 21-page declaration was signed by 97 Filipinos, appointed by Aguinaldo, and one retired American artillery officer, Colonel L.M. Johnson. The flag was officially unfurled for the first time at 4:20 p.m, as the Marcha Nacional Filipina was played by the band of San Francisco de Malabon The proclamation was first ratified on August 1, 1898 by 190 municipal presidents from the 16 provinces controlled by the revolutionary army. It was again ratified on September 29, 1898 by the Malolos Congress[4] The Philippines failed to win international recognition of its independence, including by the United States of America or by Spain. The Spanish government later ceded the Philippine archipelago to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris. The Philippines Revolutionary Government did not recognize the treaty and the two sides subsequently fought the Philippine–American War. The United States of America granted independence to the Philippines on July 4, 1946 through the Treaty of Manila.July 4 was chosen as the date by the United States because it corresponds to the United States' Independence Day, and that day was observed in the Philippines as Independence Day until 1962. On May 12, 1962, President Diosdado Macapagal issued Presidential Proclamation No. 28, which declared June 12 a special public holiday throughout the Philippines, "... in commemoration of our people's declaration of their inherent and inalienable right to freedom and independence.[8]" On August 4, 1964, Republic Act No. 4166 renamed July 4 holiday as "Philippine Republic Day", proclaimed June 12 as "Philippine Independence Day", and enjoined all citizens of the Philippines to observe the latter with befitting rites. Flag Day Prior to 1964, June 12 had been observed as Flag Day in the country. In 1965 President Diosdado Macapagal issued Proclamation No. 374, which moved National Flag Day to May 28 (the date the Philippine Flag was first flown in battle in Alapan, Imus, Cavite in 1898). In 1994, President Fidel V. Ramos issued Executive Order No. 179, extending the celebration period extended period to range from May 28 to Philippine Independence Day on June 12, ordering government departments, agencies, offices, government owned and controlled corporations, state agencies, and local government units, and even private establishments, to prominently display the National Flag in all public buildings, government institutions, and official residences during this period

Independence Day in Georgia 26 may 2018 Tbilisi

საქართველოს დამოუკიდებელი რესპუბლიკის 100 წლისთავი Independence Day (Georgian: დამოუკიდებლობის დღე, damoukideblobis dghe) is an annual public holiday in Georgia observed on 26 May. It commemorates the 26 May 1918 adoption of the Act of Independence, which established the Democratic Republic of Georgia in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution of 1917. It is the national day of Georgia. Independence Day is associated with military parades, fireworks, concerts, fairs, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history and culture of Georgia. 26 May had been celebrated as the national day of the Democratic Republic of Georgia until the Soviet takeover in 1921. During the Soviet era, it was clandestinely and irregularly observed by segments of society opposed to the Communist regime. As the Georgian national movement gained momentum in the late 1980s, the symbols associated with the short-lived pre-Soviet republic became a rallying cry for those advocating independence from the Soviet Union. After Georgia's declaration of independence on 9 April 1991, the government set on 26 May 1991 Georgia's first presidential election, which was won by Zviad Gamsakhurdia. Georgia met 26 May of the next year with the new government led by Eduard Shevardnadze; Gamsakhurdia had been ousted in a military coup earlier that year. The 26 May 1992 celebration was attended by Shevardnadze's old acquaintance James Baker. The day also witnessed one of the first major anti-Shevardnadze demonstrations in the streets of Tbilisi. საქართველოს დამოუკიდებელი რესპუბლიკის 100 წლისთავი 100 Year Anniversary of Georgian Independent Republic Кадры из фильма Тбилисского видео инженера Tazo. State of emergency Independence festivities have been taking place all week, mainly centred on the harbour area of Freetown. Three days of public holiday have been declared, and the city is in party mood, with streets decorated with bunting and the new national colours everywhere. But the build-up has been overshadowed by the state of emergency, declared ten days ago following a campaign of sabotage by the opposition All People's Congress Party (APC). The party has been urging that independence should be postponed until free elections have been held. The leader of the APC, Siaka Stevens, was arrested just over a week ago, along with his right-hand man, Wallace Johnston, and 16 other party members. They had been planning a general strike to coincide with the independence celebrations, and it was feared riots would break out if the strike went ahead. The government in Freetown is insisting that elections will be held next year, as agreed under the terms of independence. Ministers say the arrests were made to protect those visiting the country for the ceremonies, and, they say, there is every intention to release those detained as soon as the ceremonies are over.

Chile Independence Day: September 18 Chile celebrates Independence Day as a public holiday. Every year on September 18, Chile celebrates the Independence Day to commemorate its freedom from Spanish rule. History of Chile Independence Day Ferdinand Magellan was the first European to visit what is now Chile. In 1535, Spain completed its invasion of Peru under Francisco Pizarro. Diego de Almagro, one of Pizarro’s aides, went into Chile to look for gold. The gold-hunting expedition spent nearly three years without any and then later withdrew to Peru. In 1540, another of Pizarro’s officers, Pedro de Valdivia, led a second expedition into southern Chile. Valdivia succeeded in establishing several settlements despite fierce resistance from the Araucanians. The only Native American people who were not immediately subdued by the Spanish attack were the Araucanians. In the Spanish colonial era, Chile developed slowly, because it had neither important silver or gold deposits to interest the Spanish nor natives who were willing to do hard labor. Furthermore, it was far from the main centers of Spanish colonization in Peru. Chile supplied Peru with agricultural products, especially wheat. In 1810, Chile took the opportunity free itself from Spanish rule when they learned that the king of Spain had been forced out by Napoleon I of France . On September 18 of that year. The Santiago town council overthrew the colonial governor of Chile on September 18, 1810. This marked the formal establishment of Chile’s independence from Spain. After four years, the Spanish viceroy of Peru reclaimed Chile. Nevertheless, the yearning for independence was already strong.
