LACMA! Justin Scarred & Tyler Evans visit the Los Angeles County Museum of Art! LACMA is an amazing place with amazing art.It would be amazing to return, but perhaps we'll have to visit a different art museum next time. For those who will most certainly ask, How do you get kicked out of an Art museum? Have fun. After asking repeatedly and making sure room by room that we were allowed to film, apparently one security guard didn't like the way we were appreciating the art and we were asked (not very politely) to leave. I'm actually about 99.9% sure it was Tyler's comment about Spaghetti that sealed our fate. Los Angeles may be best known for film but it also has an exciting art scene. LA is home to some of the best museums in the United States, and there are a number to choose from. The J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center is a favorite. The collection of Western art spans from the middle ages to today and includes work by masters like Ruben, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, and Manet. There’s also the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which is the biggest art museum in the western United States. Holy Hell people!!!! Get down to the museum and see this big ol' rock. Its crazy nuts big! Seems like a lot of work and then the whole 10 million dollars makes it sound pretty pricey too! Thats a lot of price to move a rock but I'l tell you what! The guy that did it really, really wanted to do it and he spend 30 odd years bothering everyone to drag some big rock out of a granite quarry and make it look like it was floating. Yeah, you can run around underneath the darned thing! It's not as hot under the rock because of the shade. Don't go here when its hot as you can tell in the video its annoying and you sweat. Go early in the morning or something maybe. I'm not sure really.

Check out my video on the "J Paul Getty Center Museum", Los Angeles, CA:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML2gRgy0XLY Check out my video on the "Armand Hammer Museum" Los Angeles, CA 2-6-2014:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZXvY-urD2c Expressionism in Germany and France: From Van Gogh to Kandinsky sheds new light on the extraordinary response of artists in Germany and France to key developments in modern art in the early 20th century. For the first time in a major museum exhibition, Expressionism is presented as an international movement in which artists responded with various aesthetic approaches to the work of modern masters such as Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, and Paul Gauguin. The exhibition features Post‑Impressionist, Fauvist, and Cubist paintings by more than 40 artists—including Cézanne, van Gogh, Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Robert Delaunay, and Paul Signac—that the Expressionists, such as Wassily Kandinsky, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Gabrielle Münter, and Franz Marc, were able to see in landmark exhibitions and collections in Germany and on their travels to Paris. Ninety paintings and 45 works on paper tell the story of the extraordinary cultural dialogue taking place amongst artists of the time. The exhibition features numerous loans from major museums in the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and various private collections. John Altoon is the first major retrospective devoted to this little-known yet important artist whose brief but significant career unfolded in southern California from the 1950s until his untimely death in 1969 at age 43. The exhibition includes approximately 70 paintings and drawings from public and private collections across the United States. Trained as a commercial illustrator as well as a fine artist, Altoon developed both an abstract vocabulary influenced by Abstract Expressionism and a figurative style (often erotically charged and with socio-political content) that reflected his commercial background. He also developed a hybrid style combining abstraction with figuration. A post-modernist before his time, Altoon had a facility with line, color, and subject matter that resonated with his peers and continues to resonate with artists today. Numerous visits to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's "Fashioning Fashion" exhibit yielded this video presentation of some of the most exquisite examples of upper class European fashion worn from the early 1700s to about 1915. This was one of LACMA's finest and most outstanding exhibits, in my opinion, and I've seen quite a few of their exhibits over the years. I saw this particular exhibit about 7 times and took photos during most of my visits, the end result of which you see here. This video was originally uploaded on April 20, 2011 but had to be taken down and re-edited due to music sound track copyright issues. The new and current licensed sound tracks are as follows: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Allegro (K 525), Violin Concerto in A Minor Op 4 N4 (RV 357), Oboe Concerto in B Flat Major Op 9 No. 11, Allegro, and Neapolitan Song from Children's Album Op 39, all by StockmusicCom/ Pond5.Com.

Chris Burden's Metropolis II is an intense kinetic sculpture, modeled after a fast paced, frenetic modern city. Steel beams form an eclectic grid interwoven with an elaborate system of 18 roadways, including one six lane freeway, and HO scale train tracks. Miniature cars speed through the city at 240 scale miles per hour; every hour, the equivalent of approximately 100,000 cars circulate through the dense network of buildings. According to Burden, "The noise, the continuous flow of the trains, and the speeding toy cars produce in the viewer the stress of living in a dynamic, active and bustling 21st century city."

2012 Sculpture, Diorite granite and concrete 35 × 456 × 21 2/3 ft. (10.67 × 138.98 × 6.6 m) Weight: 340 Tons Levitated Mass is a 2012 large-scale sculpture by Michael Heizer on the campus of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The installation consists of a 340-ton boulder affixed above a concrete trench through which visitors may walk. The nature, expense and scale of the installation made it an instant topic of discussion within the art world. The cost of the project has been estimated at $10 million, and was funded entirely via private donations. The piece is open to the public during museum hours and does not require museum admission. The work comprises a 21.5-foot tall boulder mounted on the walls of a 456-foot long concrete trench, surrounded by 2.5 acres of compressed decomposed granite. The boulder is bolted to two shelves affixed to the inner walls of the trench, which descends from ground level to 15 feet below the stone at its center, allowing visitors to stand directly below the megalith. Initial plans for the work described the boulder as being affixed to the trench walls themselves, giving the boulder the appearance of 'floating' when viewed from within the trench via optical illusion, hence the work's title. With the addition of the support shelves, this illusion does not occur. A 1982 Heizer work in Manhattan, also called Levitated Mass, consists of a much smaller, carved rock set on hidden supports, and does preserve this 'floating' effect. Heizer rarely explains or comments on his work and has never offered a public explanation of Levitated Mass's meaning or significance. He has, however, described the piece as being 'static art' and has emphasized the importance of the boulder's size and of the work's longevity, saying that the work is meant to last 3,500 years. LACMA has published a preliminary sketch of the work by Heizer that contains a handwritten notation saying that the work "destroys 'gestalt' concepts".
