Skillopedia - 06 Mobile Phone Etiquette Rules At Workplace - Telephone Conversation Skills http://www.learnex.in/mobile-phone-etiquette-improve-telephone-skills/ In this Skillopedia video with Michelle, you would learn 6 telephone/mobile phone etiquette rules everyone should know at the workplace. Practising good telephone skills are vital in the workplace. These days the most important gadget in our lives is our phone that consumes for a great deal of our time, no matter if you are a teenager or an adult or even middle-aged, your phone seems to be precious and it’s hard to get off it! Do you know that to overuse the cell phone at WORK PLACE is a big NO, as your cell phone use at work can distract you from doing your job and it may even annoy your boss or co-workers Today I have for you 6 tips for you about using your cell phone at your workplace? This is Skillopedia, the place to learn skills for the real world and I am Michelle. And Here are some rules you should follow when using the cell phone at your work place: 1. Turn Your Ringer Off: Having your phone ring loudly with Shakira’s Hips don’t lie, at a meeting or a presentation is beyond embarrassing. So, if you have your cell phone with you at work, don't let it ring out loud. If you don't want to turn it off completely, at least set it to vibrate. The sounds of different ring tones playing all the time can be very annoying to others. And of course, you don't want your boss to know how many times in a day you get calls, do you? So turn off the ringer at work. 2. Use Your Cell Phone Only for Important Calls: If you have your cell phone at work, only use it for important calls. Okay now, you would wanna ask me which call is an important call? The school nurse calling to say your child is ill, your child calling to say he's arrived home from school safely, and family emergencies that you must deal with immediately are important. Your friend calling to chat, your child calling to say that he spilt coffee on the bed, or your mum calling to tell you your cousin Lilly is engaged can all wait until you are done with work or until you are on a break. PERIOD. So I guess now you have a clear idea about which calls are important and which are not, so pick up the calls wisely at work. 3. Let Your Cell Phone Calls Go to Voicemail: Sometimes we don’t know if an incoming call is important, so what do we do then, well, in that case, let the voicemail pick it up. What I mean is let the calls that you don't pick up forward to a voicemail where people can leave messages for you. Because, it won't take long to check your messages, but if you answer the call, you may find it hard to end the call and it will consume more of your time than you expected. 4. Find a Private Place to Make Cell Phone Calls: Yes, it's completely okay to use your cell phone at work for private calls during breaks, don’t do it near your desk, find a place away from your desk to make those personal calls. You don’t want to risk your personal conversation to become an office gossip, so you should find somewhere else to talk, where no one can overhear your conversation. Do this even if what you are discussing isn't personal. You may be on a break, but your co-workers are not. They could still be interested in hearing your personal conversations and turn them into an office gossip. 5. Don't Bring Your Cell Phone Into the Restroom: Please follow this rule at work or even outside of work. And you ask me, why? Well, if you must ask—you never know who is in there; the person on the other end of the line will hear bathroom sounds, like toilets flushing etc..; it’s like you are not respecting your co-workers’ privacy and not even the person you are talking to. So please don’t get your phone to the bathroom. 6. Don't Bring Your Cell Phone to Meetings: What I mean here is "Don't Bring Your Cell Phone to Meetings If You Are Going to Use It for Anything Not Related to the Meeting." You may have your calendar on your phone, and you may even use an app on it to take notes. If you need to have it with you for those reasons, then you don't have much of a choice. And you could get the phone to the meeting.

Do you carry around one phone for work and another phone for personal use? Do you wish you could just carry one? This is possible with Android for Work, that allows Android users to browse personal and business apps from their personally owned mobile device. In this episode, James and Jimmy explain the advantages of using Android for Work and walk us through the setup process. With Android for Work, companies can create separate work and personal profiles in their employee’s owned smartphone or tablet. This allows companies to have access and management rights limited to their employee's business profile only, without interfering in personal information. Users will maintain control of their personal profile, which will live independently from their work profile. This strict separation of profiles is a guarantee that personal data won’t be wiped out by mistake if somebody leaves the company. To get the benefits of Android for Work, your IT department has to set up first Google Mobile Management as your EMM provider. Next, as a user, you just need to go to the Play Store and install the “Google Apps Device Policy” app on your phone or tablet to get started. When you have downloaded the app, your company can either force you to create a work profile, or make it optional. Once your work profile is created, apps and notifications will appear with a red briefcase on top of the icons. James shows that Android for Work equally allows IT administrators to select a variety of business-related apps and push them to the users’ work profile. They will find a large selection of apps in Google Play for Work. To make that possible IT admins need to whitelist the Android apps they select from the Admin Console (by selecting “Device Management” then “App Management,” and finally “Manage Applications for Android Devices.”) Work and personal profiles coexisting in your own device : that might be your solution to smartphone overload as well! Watch more How to Have Good Manners videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/513558-Cellphone-Etiquette-Good-Manners Hi, I'm Faye Devoishantes with Social Skills, here to teach you when it is and it isn't okay to use your mobile device. We're all on our phones constantly. We are bombarded with information, we use it for every aspect of our lives, but there are certain parameters to follow in terms of when you should and shouldn't use your mobile device. So keep in mind who you're with, the situation that you're in. We're all multitasking, we're all doing a lot of things, but there are certain occasions where you shouldn't be on your mobile device. So think about occasions, for example, when you're having dinner with someone, when you're face to face, when you have that opportunity to be with someone. It's really offensive to be across the table from someone and have them be on their mobile device the entire evening. Also, think about occasions like a funeral. You wouldn't want to be texting, you wouldn't want to be doing research on your smart phone while something so serious is happening. Think about the classroom. you wouldn't want to be texting or using your mobile device while your teacher is teaching an important lesson. Things that require your undivided attention should never, ever have a mobile device involved. Just a few other situations to think about, when you're working, when you're in a meeting, it's entirely inappropriate to bring out your mobile device. It shows disrespect to bring out your mobile device in a meeting. In an office setting you want to be sure that you have your mobile device turned on silent or vibrate because it poses a distraction for everyone else in the office. Also you don't want to be constantly responding to text messages and calls during your workday. It's your workday, it's a time for you to be working, you're getting paid or you're perhaps interning for someone else. You want to make sure your time is devoted to that internship or to that job. When you're at movie theaters and shows you should also keep in mind that there are people around you that are distracted by the light from your mobile device. If you do need to use your mobile device, step outside, step out of the theater, step out of wherever the show is happening, you don't want to be a distraction to other people. If you're at the office and you need to take something urgent be sure to step outside, step away from the office. Respect all of the people in your office and have the courtesy to take a personal call outside of the office environment. You might be chatting with someone in person and fell your smartphone vibrating or hear a call coming in, but before you're so quick to answer it, or to respond to a text message, take a moment and enjoy that face to face interaction before you pick up your mobile device. If you really need to pick up a call make sure you excuse yourself before you do so. Those are just a few tips on when it is and when it isn't appropriate to use your mobile device.

Fun fact: when I was selling mobile phones back in 2004, I would spend the store's slow days taking online training courses reserved for my employer's engineers, fascinated by the networks that made mobile phones work. Twelve years (and a change of career) later, my network curiosity still burned strong. So I asked AT&T to let me go hands-on with a cell site – and to my great surprise, the carrier said yes! Come along as I scope out not one, but two cell sites: one hidden in the steeple of a church, the other perched high atop the tallest mountain in the Northeast. In the process we'll learn about RF energy, what happens when the power goes out, and why the term "tower" isn't always accurate. [SUBSCRIBE] https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSOpcUkE-is7u7c4AkLgqTw?sub_confirmation=1 [ABOUT THIS VIDEO] MrMobile's Tower Tour was produced based on a pitch by MrMobile to AT&T in the Spring of 2016. To make this video possible, AT&T provided access to two cell sites and several network engineering personnel. AT&T also reviewed MrMobile's final script for technical accuracy, but no editorial changes were made as a result of the company's input. Travel expenses were entirely paid by MrMobile/Mobile Nations, and there was no consideration paid to MrMobile by AT&T for the production of this video. Cellphone use causing pedestrian accidents. Walking and texting at the same time is most common to do, and it definitely can be dangerous if you aren’t careful. Texting pedestrians may trip over curbs, walk out in front of cars and bump into other walkers. Danger of walking and talking on your phone! Videos of people walking into poles and falling into water fountains while on their phones texting have become viral video sensations. They’re funny and interesting, but there are serious consequences and potential injuries that may take place if you are not careful. While we might laugh at the woman who falls into the fountain while texting, or the man who walks into a wall while texting, the problem of distracted walking is a very real and serious one. The problem is becoming so acute that they have been dubbed smombies or smartphone zombies.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The use of cell phones in the work place can affect businesses and its employees. This report covers three main topics: The Pros of Cell Phone Use in the Workplace workers can perform a better job if equipped with a cell phone. However, the question still remains, "Is the safety of the employee being observed?" The Cons of Cell Phone Use in the Workplace mobile takeover of our professional lives. That focuses on the balance between work and life, workflow disruption and the effects of relationships at the workplace. Company Experience Injuries with Cell Phone Use the cellphone can and will end up with the employee having a work related injury. RECOMMENDATION It's up to you the employee to use your safety sense and your understanding of the organization's rules and procedures to know the difference. We as a company must set rules on how and when a cellphone can be used while at work and consequences for those who fail to abide by those rules. Cell phones should not be used: • While operating machinery • During meetings, training and or conferences • No texting while walking or in the building Cell phones should only be used: • If it is work related, such as converting into a projector, recording or video device and if needed to make or receive payment. • If you are on your break The company does not disagree with cellphone use but we have to put your safety first, while eliminating disruptions, bad workplace relationships and most important injuries. CONCLUSION So what it all comes down to is this: our phones are powerful tools which allow us to have instant access to information and communication. When used appropriately, these devices can make our lives easier and more enjoyable, but when used at the wrong time and in the wrong manner, these same devices can get one in trouble at work and cause serious injury.

Today here on Gadget Jeff TV we will be reviewing the cell phone jammer. This little nifty device will disrupt and jam cell and WiFi signals up to 70 feet away. Ultimately, making the victims phone unable to make/receive calls, text message or connect to the internet. Now before you get all googly eyed on getting one. It is important to realize they are illegal to use according to federal law. However, this law does not state it is illegal to own or use for personal decoration display (which is what I use it for) Each of the four antennas is responsible for blocking a specific cell band. CDMA, GSM, 3G/4G LTE and Wifi are all jammed by each corresponding antenna. When jamming all bands at the same time, this cell jammer will get you about 1 hour of use. When only jamming one band, battery life is extended up to 2 hours. (this is what I've read, not tested as I've never turned the device on) ;-) If you are interested in learning more about the beautiful traits a cell phone jammer carries and how being an owner makes you a very good person, simply search Google. There are plenty of websites that carry them. If you have any questions regarding this video or any of my videos, please feel free to comment below and I will respond quickly. http://www.engvid.com/ Practice speaking on the phone with me, Emma! Do you know how to speak on the phone? Do you feel nervous talking on the phone? In this survival English video, I teach you common expressions to use on a phone call. By learning these expressions, your telephone conversations will become clearer and you will understand more. You can practice these expressions by taking our quiz. http://www.engvid.com/speaking-english-how-to-answer-the-phone/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. My name is Emma. And in today's lesson, we are going to be learning some important telephone expressions. Okay? I know a lot of students get very scared when they have to talk on the phone, and it's understandable; it can be very scary when you can't see the person's face when you're talking to them. So one great idea if you're afraid of talking on the phone in English is to memorize key expressions that we use all the time. This way, it will improve your listening, you will know what people will probably say on the phone, and your speaking will improve too. All right? Now, in this video, we're actually going to practice these expressions together. In my pocket, I have my cellphone. All right? So what is going to happen is I will teach you an expression, and then I will pretend to be on the phone, you can pretend to be on the phone too. I will say something, and you say the correct expression to me. All right? So, if you don't understand, that's okay - you will in a moment. Let's get started. Now, when somebody calls you... "Ring, ring, ring, ring" First thing you say is: "Hello?" As in a question. "Hello?" All right? And then what happens? The person who's calling asks a question. They can do this in different ways. I've listed four different ways, the most common. Sometimes they'll say: "Is __________ there, please?" "Is Emma there, please?", "Is Daniella there, please?" "Is Yvonne there, please?" Okay? A very common way. And notice: "please", very important to be polite. You can also say: "This is __________" - Emma - "calling for _________." Whoever you're calling. So, if I'm calling you, I might say: "Oh, hello. This is Emma calling for Daniel", "This is Emma calling for Joseph.", "This is Emma calling for Pete." Okay? So this is a common expression, especially if you're at work, this is the one we would use a lot at work. This one is a little more informal; you'd probably use this one more if you're calling your friends or calling someone in not a business situation. This is also another informal one: "Is __________ in?" So all of these blanks are the name of the person who the caller wants to speak to. "Is Emma in?", "Is John in?", "Is Mary in?" Okay. So, again: "Hello. Is Mary in?" Informal. Last one: "May I please speak to __________?" Emma. "May I please speak to Mary?", "May I please speak to the doctor?" All right? This one is more formal. So we have sort of formal/informal, formal, informal, and last one, formal. All right, so let's get your phone out. All right? Whether you have a real cellphone or your hand, and let's practice a statement. So you're going to be calling me. You're going to use one of these expressions. Pick whichever one you want and practice it. All right? Let's get started. "Ring, ring, ring, ring." "Hello?" Perfect. All right? So you can watch this video again and again; practice, practice, practice until you have it memorized, until it is easy for you. All right, now how do I respond or how..? How does the person you're calling respond? If you say: "Is Emma there, please?" I would say: "Speaking." Which means: "Yes, it's me, it's Emma." I wouldn't say that, I would just say: "Speaking." Or I could say: "__________ speaking. How can I help you?" [SM1]"Emma speaking.", "Emma speaking. How can I help you?" "This is __________." [SM2]"This is Emma." Or: "This is he.", "This is she." All right? So again, these represents the... The name of the person. This... These blanks are names. All right? So let's try one. I want you to pick any of these. All right? Now, I'm sorry - there are so many of you, I probably will not pick your name when I ask this question. So today, I am going to call you all "Bob". I'm sorry if that's a problem, but today, you are Bob. All right? So I want you to either say: "Speaking.", "Bob speaking.", "This is Bob." Just for practice. All right. So get your phone ready. "Ring, ring, ring, ring" So you say: "Hello?" And I say: "Is Bob there, please?" What do you say? Good, very good. All right, so let's learn some more expressions. Okay, great. So we've gone through the first part of a phone call. - "Hello, is Emma there, please?" -"Speaking." All right? Now what? What if someone calls you and you pick up, but they're not looking for you; they're looking for your brother, they're looking for your mother, they're looking for someone else - what do you say?

Visit USC on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/usc Learn more about the University of Southern California: http://www.usc.edu Rude behavior in the workplace can have real implications for careers, hiring and even workplace efficiency, with tension among coworkers harming productivity. A new study co-authored by Peter W. Cardon of the USC Marshall School of Business and colleagues at Howard University is the first to provide hard evidence of how attitudes towards mobile phone use at work actually break down across gender, age and region. The study reveals what business professionals perceive as acceptable, courteous or rude use of mobile phones in the workplace, including surprising findings about how men are nearly twice as likely as women to consider mobile phone use at a business lunch acceptable. Also, a full 20 percent of professionals said simply having your phone out at a business lunch is rude. "Hiring managers often cite courtesy as among the most important soft skills they notice. By focusing on civility, young people entering the workforce may be able to set themselves apart," said Cardon, associate professor of clinical management communication at the USC Marshall School of Business Center for Management Communication. Cell Phone Etiquette at Work - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Keep it professional, most people have work issued phones, but regardless, ringtone should always be appropriate. No one at the corporate office want to hear 'candy shop' blaring every time a phone call comes in. Also, turn off those chammy reminders for words with friends, for e-mail, for texting, and if in a meeting with colleague, make sure you put your phone on silent or vibrate. When you do not, it shows your attention is elsewhere. Respect the privacy of others and do not yell into the cell phone when on a call. It is usually them contending with noise, not you.

Do you jump when your cell phone rings unexpectedly? New research shows that sound may also startle an unborn baby. Researchers asked 28 pregnant resident physicians who constantly carry cell phones and/or beepers at work to undergo fetal testing known as a biophysical profile while the devices were activated. The women were all between 27 and 41 weeks gestation. During each screening session, the gadgets were set off at intervals of 5 minutes five times. Fetal responses including head turning, mouth opening and were recorded from several angles. All of the fetuses demonstrated an initial startle response. Additional stimulations were associated with varying decreases in response. The researchers say, “Repeated startle responses may be worrisome because they interfere with the known normal cycle of fetal behavior.” They are calling for more research into potential adverse pregnancy outcomes related to cell phones and beepers.

http://www.clearingwasteinlondon.co.uk Unfortunatly the glare on the windscreen means I don't get a clear picture of the mobile in use, the driver was holding it with his left hand. I wasn't aware of the offence until I was already in front, at which point I wasn't too interested in trying to get closer to this vehicle. The driver has shown once before what he is like, although I can't confirm if it was the same driver.

Hi, this video shows you how to use your mobile cell phone to make & receive landline telephone calls in the same house as the landline OR in any part of the world with a Wi-Fi or mobile network. The video shows you the set up of the Swissvoice Voice Bridge and the main features. This is really useful as it allows call forwarding at no cost to the receiver and allows you to utilise existing mobile cell phones instead of buying new landline phones. It works on both iOS Apple products and Android phones/tablets. Many thanks Vince
