5th Avenue Shops and Stores, Manhattan, New York City, 4K video Fifth Avenue is a major thoroughfare going through the borough of Manhattan in New York City, United States. It stretches from West 143rd Street in Harlem to Washington Square North at Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village. It is considered among the most expensive and best shopping streets in the world. The section of Fifth Avenue that crosses Midtown Manhattan, especially that between 49th Street and 60th Street, is lined with prestigious shops and is consistently ranked among the most expensive shopping streets in the world. The "most expensive street in the world" moniker changes depending on currency fluctuations and local economic conditions from year to year. For several years starting in the mid-1990s, the shopping district between 49th and 57th Streets was ranked as having the world's most expensive retail spaces on a cost per square foot basis. In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked Fifth Avenue as being the most expensive street in the world. Some of the most coveted real estate on Fifth Avenue are the penthouses perched atop the buildings. Westfield World Trade Center by Santiago Calatrava Area: 500,000 sq. feet Estimated cost: $612.5 million, Estimated completion: March 2015 The future Mall at the World Trade Center, currently under construction, calls for roughly 500,000 square feet (46,000 m²) of retail space, which will once again make it the largest shopping mall in Manhattan. Although the new mall will only be spread over roughly one half of the original mall's footprint (due to the new space required for the below-grade WTC museum), the mall will be double-level, whereas the original mall was a single-level mall. Three additional levels will also exist above-grade on the lower floors of Towers 2 and 3, and Tower 4 will house four above-grade levels. According to developer Larry Silverstein (whose firm was replaced by Westfield as the developer): "The design we have developed with the Port Authority calls for not only rebuilding the retail space that was lost on 9/11, but going above and beyond what was there before. We want to create a real destination for visitors and shoppers, a center that will share many of the attributes of the city's great retail hubs." Construction on the 1 World Trade center portion of the mall began in mid-2007. According to a press release dated February 9th, 2012 and issued by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, "The grand opening of the retail complex is expected in 2015." Westfield has re-entered into an agreement with the Port Authority for co-ownership and management of the mall, which will be named Westfield World Trade Center, and has recently begun marketing space in the mall, opening a leasing office in the new 7 World Trade Center.

Check out "Know Before You Go To New York: Travel Tips From A Licensed New York City Tour Guide:" http://knowbeforeyougonewyork.com/ The Blue Guide New York provides lots more about fun places to visit in New York City. Click on http://amzn.to/1OpOjvO. This is just a short video I put together of East River Plaza shopping mall in Harlem, New York City, to help anyone who's going there for the first time. East River Plaza is located at 116th St. next to the FDR Expressway which sits along the East River on the East Side of Manhattan. So it's easily accessible (depending on traffic volume) from just about anywhere in New York City's boroughs. There's plenty of parking and there's also an inexpensive car service you can hire if you don't have your own vehicle. The First Avenue and Second Avenue bus lines are just a few blocks away, and it's not hard to get a taxi. If you come in your own car, be aware that you have to pay at any one of a number of bright yellow kiosks set up outside and inside the parking lot. Make sure you take advantage of one of these, and also make sure you get a ticket when you pay - not just a receipt. The ticket works in the automatic gate at the exit. The receipt does not. You'' wind up paying the full day rate if you don't have a ticket - AND you'll hold up traffic behind you while you're figuring out what's wrong. You'll find that the New Yorkers in the cars behind you will not be happy, and will say so. The area is very safe. See http://bestnewyorkvideos.com for more videos about living in New York City, NYC tourist attractions and other free things to do and fun places to go in New York.

Apple Store on Fifth Avenue, midtown Manhattan, New York City The Apple Store is a chain of retail stores owned and operated by Apple Inc., dealing with computers and consumer electronics. The stores sell Macintosh personal computers, software, iPods, iPads, iPhones third-party accessories and now Apple Watches, and other consumer electronics such as Apple TV. All stores offer a Genius Bar for technical support and repairs, as well as free workshops available to the public, while some high-profile stores feature a theater for presentations and workshops and a studio for training with Apple products. Many stores are located inside shopping malls, but Apple has built several stand-alone "flagship" stores in high-profile locations. Each store is designed to suit the needs of the location and regulatory authorities. Apple has received numerous architectural awards for its store designs, particularly its midtown Manhattan location on Fifth Avenue whose glass cube was designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. We’re taking you to Manhattan's Chinatown, which is the most famous and home to the highest concentrated, industry population density of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere. Click to Subscribe http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu Most visitors blow through in about half an hour and just walk along a couple of the main streets like Mott, Mulberry and Canal and then depart, and that's fine. But you can venture into the side streets and go further east to get a real taste of the neighborhood, as we’re showing you on the map route that we took to make this movie, bringing you all around. Chinatown has several quite different faces. On one hand it's an exotic bit of Asia appealing to tourists. It will is like entering a different world from the rest of Manhattan, lots of shop selling trinkets and many restaurants serving authentic cuisine making a, fine place to stroll. On the other hand, it’s, a very busy commercial district with small factories, trucks loading and unloading everywhere, warehouses packed with goods importing and exporting, many little banks and a him slightly chaotic energy. It's a busy New York dynamo. We will take a walk along Hester Street for a few blocks. It's one tourist shop after another, it seems, but fun to look at with these open fronts. As you look down the side streets you'll notice that gridiron of the old fire escapes. It really is a characteristic and quaint touch of old New York. Here you can see how Chinatown has really been expanding, especially out here on the east side with the residents from Fuzhou in the southeast part of China. In recent decades they have been the main group coming in. http://tourvideos.com/

Driving Downtown Streets - 57th Street - New York City New York USA Starting Point: 57th Street https://goo.gl/maps/fhMz4pYNEm72 . 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan New York City is home to Billionaires' Row, prestigious art galleries, restaurants and up-market shops. It is two blocks south of the famous NYC Central Park. Billionaires' Row Beginning with the construction of One57, a 1,004-foot (306 m) apartment building between Sixth and Seventh Avenues which was completed in 2014, a large number of very tall ultra-luxury residential buildings have been constructed or proposed on the section of 57th Street roughly corresponding to the southern edge of Central Park. Due to the often record-breaking prices that have been set for the apartments in these buildings, the press has dubbed this section of 57th Street as "Billionaires' Row". These projects have generated controversy concerning the economic conditions and zoning policies that have encouraged these buildings, as well as the impact these towers will have on the surrounding neighborhoods and the shadows they will cast on Central Park. Description Over its two-mile (3 km) length, 57th Street passes through several distinct neighborhoods with differing mixes of commercial, retail, and residential uses. Much of south side of the block between Eleventh and Tenth Avenues is occupied by the CBS Broadcast Center, which is the network's primary East Coast production facility. From Tenth Avenue to Eighth Avenue, larger residential buildings appear. Beginning at Eighth Avenue and continuing east through the core of Midtown Manhattan, the street is dominated by very large commercial and residential towers, such as at the Hearst Tower at the southwest corner of 57th Street and Eighth Avenue. This stretch of 57th Street is home to several large hotels such as Le Parker Meridien and well known restaurants such as the Russian Tea Room (both between Seventh Avenue and Sixth Avenue), and the offices of several magazines including The Economist. The corner of 57th Street and Seventh Avenue is home to the city-owned performance venue Carnegie Hall. East of Sixth Avenue, the street is home to numerous high-end retail establishments including Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., and Bergdorf Goodman. The stores located at 57th Street's intersections with Fifth and Madison Avenues occupy some of the most expensive real estate in the world. Commercial and retail buildings continue to dominate until Third Avenue, where the street rapidly returns to a preponderance of large residential buildings. As it continues from here through its final blocks leading to its terminus at Sutton Place, the street consists of a nearly unbroken stretch of increasingly upscale apartment buildings with doormen, awnings, and small commercial establishments such as drug stores, bank branches, and restaurants. Many districts and landmarks in Manhattan are well known, as New York City received a record 61 million tourists in 2016, and Manhattan hosts three of the world's 10 most-visited tourist attractions in 2013: Times Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Terminal. The borough hosts many prominent bridges, such as the Brooklyn Bridge; skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building; and parks, such as Central Park. Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, and the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, part of the Stonewall National Monument, is considered the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement. The City of New York was founded at the southern tip of Manhattan, and the borough houses New York City Hall, the seat of the city's government. Numerous colleges and universities are located in Manhattan, including Columbia University, New York University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top 40 in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan

(24 Dec 2009) 1. Pull out from wreath to entrance of Macy''s department store 2. Shoppers close to entrance 3. Pan from handbag on display to shoppers 4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Tiffany Smith, shopper: "I left it all to the last minute and I''m so ashamed to say it but I did. I just didn''t feel like it. I didn''t. Why? Because of the crowds and the people and the lines, and I just didn''t, I just had other things to do to me that were more important. And I just said I''ll just go on Christmas Eve. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but I did it. So next year I won''t be doing this." 5. Zoom out from Smith looking at a ring on display 6. Close up of woman''s hand looking through rack of clothes 7. Medium of woman holding up a blouse and looking at it 8. SOUNDBITE: (English) Veronia Aragues, shopper: "You always get not lazy but you always have to buy some last minute things and this is the day to do it. I think so, look at all these people here. I think we all expected to do some shopping today." 9. Pull out of cashier bagging merchandise for customer then handing customer bag 10. Shopper German Cardona at cash register at makeup counter 11. SOUNDBITE (English) German Cardona, shopper: "No, usually I made my shopping before, but this year I didn''t. This year I was working all the time so I really didn''t have the time to do the shopping before. I buy something but now I finish my shopping right now. Yeah now I''m done." 12. Low shot of shoppers STORYLINE: Last-minute Christmas shoppers were out in force in New York on Thursday, the day before Christmas, in a season that so far appears to be slightly better for retailers than last year''s disastrous Christmas period. Shops across the US are counting on these procrastinators to boost their sales figures. One shopper at Macy''s in New York, German Cardona, said that he usually does his shopping further in advance but this year he didn''t have time because he was "working all the time." Another, Tiffany Smith, said that she simply couldn''t face the crowds but in the end had no choice. The good news for merchants is that fourth-quarter profits should be intact because, stung by last year''s experience, they had brought in less stock and so were not having to cut prices to get rid of it. However, the full picture won''t be known until major outlets, including J.C. Penney and Target, report their monthly sales on January 7. ShopperTrak, which tracks total sales and traffic at more than 50,000 outlets, is sticking to its prediction for a 1.6 percent gain, compared with a 5.9 percent drop a year ago. The US National Retail Federation, the world''s largest retail trade group, expects that total retail sales will slip 1 percent, though some experts say that might be a a bit too cautious. A year ago, they fell 3.4 percent, by the trade group''s calculations. The International Council of Shopping Centres forecasts that sales at stores open at least a year will be up 1 percent, compared with a 5.8 percent drop a year ago. The American Planning Association (APA) compiled a list of "2012 Great Places in America" and declared Fifth Avenue to be one of the greatest streets to visit in America.
