HEADLINE: NYC parking space fetches $250,000 --------------------------------------- CAPTION: And you thought the apartments were expensive. NYC parking spaces are selling for $250,000 - and they're selling out! (July 18) ---------------------------------------- [Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] ((FONT: New York)) In many parts of the country, 250-thousand dollars will buy you a nice house with a two-car garage. In New York City, it buys you a parking spot. That's the going rate for a spot in new buildings in the fashionable Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. At the soon to open 246 West 17th Street, there's already a waiting list for parking spots, according to real estate developer Shaun Osher. ((FONT: Shaun Osher, Real Estate Developer)) Question: If I bought an apartment here it would cost me around 2 million dollars and then... Answer: Then you'd pay 250-thousand dollars for the luxury of having a parking space in your building, actually they're all sold, so you couldn't get one if you wanted." There's nothing fancy about the spaces, they look like those in concrete garages everywhere. Real estate broker Natalie Rakowski just bought a parking space along with her husband, a credit derivatives broker. She says they are tired of circling the block looking for a space. ((FONT: Natalie Rakowski, Parking Spot Owner)) "When I told my husband we were going to spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars on a parking spot, he called his lawyer, getting ready for a divorce. But then I explained to him, parking spots in New York City are 5, 6, 7 hundred dollars a month and if you do the math on getting a mortgage on a parking space, and the tax deductions and the fact that you can sell it later on, it suddenly makes sense." Unlike the rest of the country where prices for all types of real estate are stagnant, in Manhattan You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/youtube/0101dd9e650874e9114f05b675cc6135 Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork

A handful of celebs including Robert Pattinson and Lady Gaga have been seen touring this $20 million, three-bedroom, 3½-bath, 3,598-square-foot penthouse at 200 11th Avenue. The building, which is also home to Nicole Kidman, is famous for a very unique feature: each apartment comes with a parking spot and residents have access to a special car elevator that takes them to a “sky garage” on their floor. And final question, are you ready to park your car? Yes." 8. Various of car descending into position on elevator 9. SOUNDBITE (English) Ari Milstein, Director of Planning for Automotion Parking Systems: "In New York City due to the fact that, again land is one of the resources that is not going to be growing anytime soon, and if you can find creative ways to utilise technology to maximise the value of the space you have and to be able to do more things with the same footprint, you're really be able to create a lot of value." 10. Pan car moving into final position in lot 11. SOUNDBITE (English) Ari Milstein, Director of Planning for Automotion Parking Systems: "Again you pull it onto the pallet, and that car stays absolutely stationary, no one enters the vehicle, all your personal items inside the car, your i-pod, your purse, is completely left alone, there is no one who can ever enter the vehicle, so therefore you don't have to worry about anyone stealing anything, you don't have to worry about tipping attendants, you don't have to worry about people changing your seat settings, your radio settings, your mirror settings. Again it is your own private garage in New York City." 12. Wide pan garage slots for parking cars LEAD IN: In a crowded city like New York lack of space is always an issue, but now a new parking system offers an underground alternative. In downtown Manhattan, the city's first hi-tech self-parking garage will soon be open for business. STORYLINE: Manhattan is an island and land is very expensive. The US bureau of the Census says that over one million five hundred thousand people live here. (1,537,195) Private garages in the downtown region are like gold dust. But now a AutoMotion Parking Systems has unveiled the first fully automated parking garage system in New York City, which offers twice the normal number of parking bays in its new underground car park. First step is to drive your car into the garage and onto a platform. The driver then gets out of the car and touches the monitor to confirm that you want to park your vehicle. The driver then swipes a personal credit card and leaves. From there the car is lowered underground where, with the help of a system of elevators and tracks, it is automatically moved into a final parked position. To get your car back usually only takes about two minutes. Ari Milstein, Director of Planning for Automotion Parking Systems, says this system is perfect for New York and help solves the issue of overcrowding. The cost to park in the new hi- tech garage is $400 US dollars per month or $25 for the day, which is comparable to other rates in the downtown area. Although there is a parking attendant in the garage to assist people, Milstein says no one will physically enter the vehicles. Milstein says the system greatly appeals to developers, who are looking for ways to double the original capacity of a parking garage, or to build one in a space where a conventional lot would not fit. The Manhattan car park is due to be open to the public by mid- February. In NYC, especially in Manhattan, you don't have a lot of time to park since there are always other cars behind you. You got to be quick. I saw a spot from the beginning of the block, and I parked. As soon as I parked, this spoiled lady runs out of her double-parked Benz and starts yelling that I took her spot. I told her that she was double parked ever since I was on this block and she did not make any attempts to park at all. This escalated very quickly and she started banging on the hood of my car. I started recording this scene using my cell phone while my wife was calling 911. That rage lady started cursing at me. At some point I actually offered to give her the spot if she stops insulting me. That never happened. After 15 minutes of this spectacle random guy pulls up and tries to defuse the situation by offering both me and the rage lady $20 to leave so he will take a spot and problem is over. I told him that I don't care about the money and at this point I am interested to leave and not waste any time with this troll. He tries to convince her to take money and go. Rage lady refuses and continues performing her act. After another 15 minutes she steps away from the car and I pull back so she can take the spot. I double parked right by her car and waited for NYPD officers to arrive. They joined us shortly after to take incident report and talk to the rage lady. Moral of the story is to pay attention to your surroundings. Especially if you are looking for parking in Manhattan. She was most likely browsing her phone and did not even notice a free spot. On the other hand I see a parking spot with a double parked car nearby and assume that the person is being considerate to others and is there temporarily waiting to pick someone up. Misunderstandings happen, and I would have moved out from the spot if she explained her situation. Instead she resorted to violence and will now be a YouTube star. Enjoy. In case she will ever look up her own license plate, I would like for this video to show up. Derelict cars can't be on the street for more than 3 days. In One neighborhood Off Ave U & McDonald residents are fuming at a mechanic shop for using street as it's personal parking garage. Neighbors say NYPD is not responding to community concerns.

No Wonder You Can't Find a Good Parking Space in New York City - the police have them! Or is that really the problem? What is really going on with parking enforcement in New York City? Paula argues and then shakes hands with a cop. Her battery kept going on and off as yesterday was an "eventful" day for Paula Gloria and Joe Barton in the Hurley Justice court where Joe told the judge and the prosecutor that they were employees for the People. Paula asks the next day who the cop is working for who turned his parking permit over when she brought her camera out to prove the New York City Finance department only cares about stealing our money and the pressure makes people fight. WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS GO? Certainly not to fix the potholes!

How many of you received a parking ticket in New York City somewhere within the 5 boroughs. If you are watching this video, then there is a good chance that you’ve probably received a parking ticket at some point. But are you looking for a way to dispute that ticket or just pay it with ease? So parking tickets, which raked in over $5oo million for the year 2015, 2016 numbers are not available as of the recording of this video. Now that's 59 percent of the total of fines that were collected and a 3.5 percent increase from the year before. Parking ticket revenue has increased about 10 percent since 2012. Now we all know the city isn’t going to stop writing parking tickets, but the Commissioner of New York City’s Department of Finance, announced the release of NYC Parking Tickets: Pay or Dispute app which is free in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. This is New York City’s official parking ticket app which will allow anyone who received a parking, red light, or speed camera violation to either pay or dispute the ticket right from your smart phone. Now the app has a number of features such as Search tickets using the violation or license plate number Save tickets that you searched for previously Save license plate and billing information Dispute a ticket immediately using your phone’s camera to upload evidence View payment history Receive receipts by email or text And pay by electronic check or any major credit or debit card Well that’s all I have on this topic, I hope this information and this application will be helpful in you either paying or disputing a ticket you received. Please make sure you are not using this app while you are driving because you will be subject to a fine and 5 points on your driving record…and there’s no app for that. If you guys have any questions for me below, please leave them in the comment section below, and also let me know if you’ve used the app and how successful you were with your dispute.
