A real UFO sighting surrounds Washington D.C and the White House in this documentary...were aliens flying them?...did the president have some involvement? A mass sighting of UFOs over the White Houses’s no-fly zone airspace prompted a counter-attack from the US airforce. The mass UFO sightings occurred in 1952 over Washington DC, started on a Saturday evening just after sunset when an off duty Army officer and FBI agent that happened to be neighbors, witnessed a red cigar shaped object sail slowly over their suburban homes towards the city. Shortly after, air traffic controllers at Washington National Airport were stunned to see seven unidentified flying objects appear on their radar screens. They were moving in deliberate formations and spreading out over all sectors of the city, including The White House, The US Capitol Building, and Andrews Air Force Base, which also reported radar contact and visual confirmation of, “an object which appeared to be like an orange ball of fire, trailing a tail, unlike anything I had ever seen before.” Similar reports flooded in from airline pilots in the area, and radar operators at the secondary air traffic control tower. By sunrise, the UFO's had vanished, and the news spread throughout the world. Then, one week later, they reappeared again. This time, the air force was ready, but military attempts to intercept were unsuccessful. Every time a jet fighter drew near, the glowing objects would fly away at incredible speeds, measured on radar to be over 7000 miles per hour. One pilot reported pursuing four glowing white objects at 400 miles per hour, his maximum speed, when they suddenly turned and surrounded him. He radioed the control tower for instructions and received only stunned silence in reply, before the four UFO's harmlessly sped away. The government's official position on the incident is that all eyewitnesses were mistaken, and that all the expert radar controllers and supervisors were confused by readings of a common, everyday weather pattern. But, how could the government take this position when they obviously sent the air force after the objects? Just what could invade what could be said to be America’s most important no-fly zone and do so with abilities that seem to defy known laws of physics?…ie…flying faster than 7000 mph would create a sonic boom, but the objects simply remained silent. --- This video contains imagery licensed as creative commons by: Diliff M.Fitzsimmons Use of the "The Leviathan" picture permitted by Jeff Chang. Take a tour of White House in Washington, DC, United States -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. It's the most famous and important building in the United States of America. The White House is the home and office of the President and his many aides and workers. The design of this extraordinary building is Neo-classical. It has had several restorations, especially after being burned in the War of 1812. Many of the nationally and internationally important announcements are made here by the President. There are few buildings in the world as symbolically significant as the White House.

The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States, located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, D.C.. It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800. The house was designed by Irish-born James Hoban, and built between 1792 and 1800 of white-painted Aquia Creek sandstone in the Neoclassical style. When Thomas Jefferson moved into the house in 1801, he (with architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe) expanded the building outward, creating two colonnades that were meant to conceal stables and storage. In 1814, during the War of 1812, the mansion was set ablaze by the British Army in the Burning of Washington, destroying the interior and charring much of the exterior. Reconstruction began almost immediately, and President James Monroe moved into the partially reconstructed Executive Residence in October 1817. Construction continued with the addition of the South Portico in 1824 and the North in 1829. Because of crowding within the executive mansion itself, President Theodore Roosevelt had all work offices relocated to the newly constructed West Wing in 1901. Eight years later, President William Howard Taft expanded the West Wing and created the first Oval Office which was eventually moved as the section was expanded. The third-floor attic was converted to living quarters in 1927 by augmenting the existing hip roof with long shed dormers. A newly constructed East Wing was used as a reception area for social events; Jefferson's colonnades connected the new wings. East Wing alterations were completed in 1946, creating additional office space. By 1948, the house's load-bearing exterior walls and internal wood beams were found to be close to failure. Under Harry S. Truman, the interior rooms were completely dismantled and a new internal load-bearing steel frame constructed inside the walls. Once this work was completed, the interior rooms were rebuilt. Today, the White House Complex includes the Executive Residence, West Wing, East Wing, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building—the former State Department, which now houses offices for the President's staff and the Vice President—and Blair House, a guest residence. The Executive Residence is made up of six stories—the Ground Floor, State Floor, Second Floor, and Third Floor, as well as a two-story basement. The term White House is regularly used as a metonym for the Executive Office of the President of the United States and for the president's administration and advisers in general. The property is a National Heritage Site owned by the National Park Service and is part of the President's Park. In 2007, it was ranked second on the American Institute of Architects list of "America's Favorite Architecture".

Did you know that Washington DC is not a city? Or even a state? And did you know that the state capitol building has its own metro system? It's true. These are 25 crazy things you didn’t know about Washington DC. Follow us on: Twitter: https://twitter.com/list25 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/list25 Website: http://list25.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/list25/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/list25/ Check out the physical list at - http://list25.com/25-crazy-things-you-didnt-know-about-washington-dc/ These facts might just change your view on Washington DC: In 1983 the District of Columbia petitioned to become a state that would be called New Columbia Why? One reason is that citizens of the district do not have a voting representative in the national legislature License plates are emblazoned with the age old phrase "taxation without representation" that the colonies used during the Revolutionary War More wine is consumed per person in DC than anywhere else in the US The Arlington Ladies is a group of women who attend the funeral of every soldier in the national cemetery so that no soldier is ever buried alone In Washington DC there is 1 lawyer for every 19 residents For every US senator there are 74 lobbyists You probably could have guessed that the "Washington" in "Washington DC" comes from George Washington but did you know that the "Columbia" in "District of Columbia" is a tribute to Christopher Columbus Washington DC is not a city or a state. It is a special federal district created to be the seat of government Remember how we said that DC residents don't have voting rights in congress? That's because the district was created as a seat of government and not intended for people to live in (although today more than half a million people call it home) Ever since 1971 the district has had one representative in the House of Representatives but he/she doesn't have voting rights. The Library of Congress is the largest library in the country It has over 500 miles of bookshelves A former Mouseketeer wrote Washington DC's song in 1951 The White House was the place of residence for every US president except George Washington The US capitol building has its own subway lines Underneath the capital building is a crypt where George Washington was going to be buried And underneath that is a nuclear fallout shelter 8 presidents never went to college: Washington, Jackson, Van Buren, Taylor, Fillmore, Lincoln, Johnson, and Cleveland. The Washington Monument is the world's tallest free standing masonry structure And the world's tallest obelisk There is a grotesque of Darth Vader on the Washington National Cathedral Other cities that have served as the US capital have been New York City, Philadelphia, and Annapolis The National Air and Space Museum is one of the most popular museums in the world. It attracts more than 9 million people annually Speaking of museums, if you ever visit you'll be happy to find out that most (over 100) of the museums and attractions are free The capitol of the United States, Washington DC is a pretty cool place. 5 Ghosts of Presidents Haunting White House Number 5: Abraham Lincoln The most well-known White House ghost is the shade of Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated in 1865. The first person to report seeing Lincoln’s ghost was First Lady Grace Coolidge, who lived in the White House in the 1920s. She reportedly saw him standing at a window in the Oval Office, looking across the Potomac to what had once been Civil War battlefields. A well-known Lincoln ghost story was reported by 20th-century British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who was a guest at the White House. After a long bath, and naked except for a cigar, he walked into the adjoining bedroom Another interesting Lincoln sighting was in 1942, when Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands answered a knock at the door of the White House bedroom where she was staying, saw Lincoln standing there in a coat and top hat, and fainted. Others said to have seen Lincoln within the White House include Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, and Dwight Eisenhower; First Ladies Jacqueline Kennedy and Lady Bird Johnson; and presidential children Susan Ford and Maureen Reagan. Both Maureen Reagan and her husband saw Lincoln at the fireplace in the Lincoln Bedroom, like Churchill. Number 4 : Willie Lincoln People have also reported seeing Abraham Lincoln’s 11-year-old son Willie Lincoln, who died in the White House in 1862 of typhoid fever. Staff members of the Grant Administration first saw Willie’s ghost in the 1870s. He was seen as recently as the 1960s, when President Lyndon Johnson’s daughter Lynda Bird Johnson Robb saw Willie’s ghost — he had died in the room in which she was staying — and she says she talked with him. Number 3 : Dolley Madison First Lady Dolley Madison planted the famous White House rose garden in the early 1800s, and then 100 years later, First Lady Ellen Wilson requested the garden be dug up. But garden workers reported that Dolley Madison’s ghost appeared and refused to let them tear up her garden. Since then, an unexplained smell of roses is sometimes experienced inside the White House and it’s attributed to the ghost of Dolley. Number 2 : Andrew Jackson The Rose Bedroom was President Andrew Jackson’s bedroom, and many White House employees claim to have seen or heard the former president in this room; they say he is either laughing heartily or swearing heavily. First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln is among those who heard him cursing in the room. Number 1 : Abigail Adams Abigail Adams and her husband John, the second president of the United States (1797-1801), moved to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue from the former U.S. capital in Philadelphia. At the time, Washington, D.C. was still just a town, built mostly on swampy land on the banks of the Potomac River. Because the East Room of the new White House was the warmest and driest, Abigail used it to hang the wash. Her ghost, clad in a cap and lace shawl, has reportedly been seen heading towards the East Room, arms outstretched as if carrying laundry. There were quite a few sightings during the Taft years, but some tourists reportedly saw her as recently as 2002. (Lincoln has also been seen in the East Room; it’s where his body lay in state after he was assassinated.)

Things you NEED to know BEFORE you go to Washington DC. DC is often referred to as "The District." You could easily spend a week in DC, especially if you want to see George Washington’s house in Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson’s house in Monticello. The City is laid out in a grid pattern with lettered streets running east-west, numbered streets running north-south. Diagonal streets — usually named after states — often intersect at circles (30 circles) Dupont Circle is my favorite circle. Comprised of four quadrants (NE, NW, SE, and SW), which spread out from the U.S. Capitol. Getting in There are three Airports -- none of them actually in DC Reagan (DCA) -- right next to DC -- connected by Metro or $20 Cab Ride Washington Dulles (IAD) Baltimore-Washington (BWI) Amtrak to Union Station Or Drive Transportation in DC Walk One of the 10 of the most walkable cities in the USA Travel + Leisure rated D.C. as the third rudest city in America, Metro Smart Trip Card Capital Bike Share 175 stations across the city Sign up for a day, or three Taxis/Uber plentiful Driving: Beware -- traffic is miserable and oneway streets abound Parking is expensive -- Use parking panda Museums Smithsonians are free Most on the national mall Air and Space has 2 locations -- one by Dulles Newseum and Spy Museum are expensive My favorite is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing No reservations required September 5, 2017 through March 2, 2018 Washington Monument elevator is really cool -- but it’s often broken Best gift shops are in the museums Government Stuff Capitol Building or the White House, make sure to book your tickets in advance. Capitol tour, reservations online or through your Congressional representative or senator. Capitol Visitor Center provides a limited number of day-passes starting at 9 a.m. White House, reserve a few months before your trip. Thru congressional representative. Time to visit Cherry Blossom Season Not the summer when all the school kids are there And the Summer is oppressively hot and humid, especially in August And maybe not when the govt is in full swing I like Winter -- no crowds at all Hotels Can be really expensive, as can parking My favorites are the Park Hyatt and the Mayflower Stay outside of DC in Arlington or Alexandria for cheaper hotels Just a short metro ride in to the city Food The national mall and monument area has almost no food Union Station and Le’fant plaza good for lunch, or around the white house Avoid the Chinese food in Chinatown -- it’s all really awful But George Bush’s favorite Chinese restaurant is just 20 minutes driving outside of DC Peking Gourmet Inn in Fall Church -- Awesome Peking Duck My Favorites: Potbelly My Favorites: Moby Dick House of Kabob My Favorites: Ben’s Chili Bowl DC is more than just monuments and the National Mall Get out and see the real DC Georgetown Penn Quarter Adams Morgan Smithsonian Zoo U Street Walk the red line Timecodes: DC General: 00:27 DC City Layout: 01:37 Getting in to DC: 02:35 Transportation in DC: 03:59 DC Museums: 06:02 Government Stuff: 08:51 Best time to visit DC: 10:05 DC Hotels: 11:43 DC Food: 13:51 The Rest of DC: 18:20 CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/yellowwsub You might enjoy watching some of my other USA Travel Videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOVadUHX1B-Kv1gRgHpJoe33hGodcPi8R Yellow Productions on social media: FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/YellowProductionsTravel INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/yellowwproductions/ TWITTER: ChrisRaney GOOGLE+: https://google.com/+yellowwproductions Check out my blog at: http://yelloww.net Yellow Productions Merchandise: https://www.teepublic.com/user/yellowproductions Music: Easy Lemon Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

(This video is available in 1080P HD) After retiring from the Coast Guard last fall, I picked up a temporary job as aerial consultant / assistant film pilot for Columbia Pictures film "White House Down." Our filming took place over the course of two weekends: October 27/28 and November 3/4, 2012. The helicopter we used was based out of White Plains, NY, and positioned in Manassas, VA during the shoot. A significant portion of our shooting occurred at dawn. The studio needed aerial shots of DC to superimpose CGI helicopters into the story, some of which takes place early on in the film. We also shot numerous sequences around Memorial Bridge, the East Side of the Capitol, and the northern and southern sides of the White House. Lead time required to get permission to enter the airspace around Washington, DC took about 5 weeks, requiring approval from FAA, TSA, Secret Service, and Capitol Police.

Fishing the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C.!!! I NEVER would have expected such AMAZING fishing from such a public and popular area! In the past I've had mixed success from this unique spot, ranging anywhere from a 35+ pound blue catfish to a few chunky bass to getting skunked after a 10 hour day on the water... On today's outing, I time my arrival to sync perfectly with the height of the incoming tide, and as my reward, I catch a TON of awesome fish including two species I've never pulled out of the basin before!
