For more info on Tourettes Syndrome please visit T.L.C. http://www.tourettes-action.org.uk/tlc/ I know your not supposed to laugh at this but it's just so damn funny when you watch it for the first time... This is a clip from a program called "Strange Behaviours" which was shown on The National Geographic channel this week. If you missed it and get the chance to watch it sometime then I recommend you do. Like I say on first viewing to most of us it really is quite funny but more importantly when you watch the full program you realise just what hell Tourettes sufferers must go through in their daily lives. Just wanted to say how much I admire those who took part in this fascinating program for being so courageous to stand up and say, "hey I'm not mentally Ill or crazy" and if people who don't suffer from such a debilitating handicap can't deal with it then that's their problem and not that of those who suffer from this terrible syndrome... Once a year around Christmas in the Peruvian Andes, the whole town gets together to dance, drink and beat the hell out of each other. Christmas festivities vary widely around the world, and are widely a steaming crock of boring shit. Ooh, Swedish girls wear a crown of candles the night before Chistmas? Please tell me more about this scintillating national cust-snzzzZZZZZZZZZ. In the Peruvian Andes, folks know how to celebrate the season right. What they do is, they put on a colorful ski-mask, dress up like Mad Max mountain bikers, tie a dead eagle to their heads, and get drunk and dance for about a week straight. Then, come Christmas morning, they all gather together in the middle of town and beat the baby bejesus out of each other. Now we're talking, right? The festival is called Takanakuy and its equal parts sporting event, indigenous display of hypermasculine defiance in the face of all the lilywhite metropolitan sissies in Lima, and makeshift judicial system. The province of Chumbivilcas, where Takanakuy takes place, has about three cops total and is a stomach-wrecking 10-hour drive through the mountains to the nearest courthouse. So if you've got a beef with a neighbor or someone's taken your girl or sheep, you don't go crying about it to some judge. You bury it away until Christmas, then get yourself all beered up and exact some Andean justice with your fists and feet. Guys, girls, little kids, old drunk men in high-waisted pants; everybody in town fights at Takanakuy. This year we decided to forego the annual family snoozefest and head into the mountains of Peru to test our mettle against the some of the hardiest people from one of the harshest environments in the Americas. We hope you like it, since it broke our mothers' hearts. The Movie Story Deals with Jagadish, a captain in the Indian Army, returns to Mumbai from Kashmir. On his arrival, his parents and younger sisters force him to see Nisha, who they choose for him to be married to. At the bride-viewing ceremony, Jagadish makes up excuses to avoid marrying her, which includes commenting about her being old-fashioned. On the contrary, Nisha is a college-level boxer, who is completely modern in her outlook. Jagadish realises this and proposes to her, which she reciprocates. One day, while travelling around the city with his police officer-friend Balaji, Jagadish witnesses the explosion of a bus in which they had travelled. He manages to capture the man who laid the bomb, but he escapes from the hospital where he was kept under custody. Jagadish kidnaps the bomber again, and also forces the police officer who helped the bomber's escape, to commit suicide. Jagadish soon learns that the bomber is a mere executor, a sleeper cell, whose only role was to plant the bomb. He also discovers that the Islamic terrorist group Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami, which the bomber belongs to, has planned various such attacks in the city in a couple of days. Enlisting the help of his fellow Army men and Balaji, Jagadish manages to thwart these attacks and kill the sleeper cell leader's brother and eleven other terrorists, including the first sleeper cell. When the leader of the terrorist group learns about the role of Jagdish in the failure of the terrorist attack, he begins to target the families of the army men, except Jagadish, by kidnapping someone close to them. When Jagadish realises the plan, he substitutes one of the people to be kidnapped, with his younger sister Sanjana. Using his pet dog and his sister's dupatta, he manages to reach the terrorists' hideout, rescuing his sister, who was about to be killed after Jagadish's bluff was exposed, and the other victims and eliminating the terrorists assembled there. Asif Ali, the second-in-command of the sleeper cells is captured and killed by Jagdish. When this attack fails, the terrorist leader decides to target Jagadish himself. He asks Jagadish to surrender to him or else there would be more terrorist attacks. Jagadish decides to sacrifice his life and devises a plan with his fellow army men. Jagadish meets the leader in a ship, which has been rigged with a bomb planted by Jagadish's friend. When he learns about the leader's plan however, which is to expose Jagadish's army team as terrorists and knowing about a Muslim terrorist in the Indian defence Kameeruddin, he fights the leader and escapes with him in a boat. After the ship explodes, he kills the leader. Jagadish confronts Kameeruddin and forces him to commit suicide, and later returns to Kashmir with his team.

November 24 - December 17, 2017 Tickets: www.theatre3dallas.com A Whimsical, Fantastical & Lyrical New Holiday Tradition for Dallas Families! Welcome to a winter wonderland with SOLSTICE featuring an all-star cast - Denise Lee, Paul Taylor, Marti Etheridge, Ian Mead Moore, and Sara Prejean. Aunt Brighid (Denise Lee) helps to keep her niece (Sara Prejean) calm through the winter solstice—the longest night of the year—by eliciting the help of magical creatures and other beings to tell stories and sing songs related to the holiday season. Pieces performed and interpreted throughout the evening include a Santa Claus origin story by Frank L. Baum (author of The Wizard of Oz), a story about an Italian witch from Philadelphia who encounters the Three Wise Men, poems from Longfellow, Frost and contemporary poet Susan Cooper, as well as short plays and new music created by local Dallas storytellers and musicians. “It's new and different while still feeling traditional,” says director Jeffrey Schmidt, who collaborated on Federico’s last project at Theatre Three, the critically acclaimed New York-bound musical On the Eve. “One moment the show is magical, then turns funny and just a little bit irreverent.” Audiences can also get into the giving spirit by participating in Theatre Three’s Solstice Book Drive, benefiting local non-profit Readers 2 Leaders. The organization is a Dallas-based literacy program helping underserved children ages 3-12 so that they succeed in school and graduate prepared to live productive lives. Theatre Three will be collecting gently used children’s and early reader books in the lobby, and all materials will be donated to Readers 2 Leaders’ Lending Library. For a list of specific books the organization is seeking, please visit their Amazon Wish List.

Even though more and more consumers are doing their holiday shopping online, shopping centres in New York City and suburban Washington, DC saw a steady flow of customers. Shopper Gene Cannon says he's always been a procrastinator. "I do it every year. I keep telling myself over and over again, I'm not going to do it the next year. But I don't know, I just wait 'til the last moment to go out and do it," he said. Antonia Serrano also put off her holiday shopping until now. "I have three kids and it's so hard to get out, you know, with the kids, and do your shopping, so today I decided I'll just get help and go and shop," she said. A survey by the International Council of Shopping Centres released last week said consumers had completed less of their holiday shopping than usual. With a population of only 300,000, Iceland can feel like the most isolated place on earth, yet its capital Reykjavik, is only a three-hour flight from London and just under six from New York. Reykjavik is relaxed and welcoming, yet possesses a cultural life that holds its own against other European capitals. Most buildings are built simple and low to beat the North Atlantic winds. However, the city is also graced with grand civic architecture inspired by Iceland’s natural beauty, such as the soaring central tower of Hallgrímskirkja. Many of the country’s most popular sights are within easy reach of Reykjavík. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Iceland, at the Blue Lagoon. Then spend a day or two in The Golden Circle, an area which encompasses three of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders; Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Field, and Gullfoss. Iceland’s main ring road strings together an endless series of epic landscapes. Less than two hours drive east of Reykjavik are two of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Continue eastward towards Vík, Iceland’s southern-most village, where you’ll find the dramatic landscapes of Black Beach, Reynisdrangar, and Dyrholaey. Follow the ring road for another two hours into the ethereal light of Jökulsárlón Lake, where icebergs break away from Europe’s largest glacier and float for years before tumbling out to sea. Head north and feel the earth rumble at Europe’s mightiest waterfall, Dettifoss. Then explore the Myvatn region, a tranquil lake surrounded by nature in all its violent beauty. Take a careful walk through the boiling landscape of Namafjall, lose yourself amid the lava pillars of Dimmuborgir, and peer into the caldera of Krafla Volcano. Known as the Capital of the North, Akureyri is the perfect place to warm up and enjoy some creature comforts, before heading off into the wilds again. In Iceland, every side road is a story waiting to unfold. So come, and live your own Icelandic story, it’s one you’ll keep telling for the rest of your days. https://www.expedia.com/Iceland.d79.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

Storying telling is an essential part of the magic of the holidays. In their only New York appearance this season, Cantus, the acclaimed men's vocal ensemble, revisits "A Christmas Carol", "Gift of the Magi," and "’Twas the Night Before Christmas" through arrangements of familiar carols alongside beautiful contemporary works. "Three Tales of Christmas" evokes the meaning and joy of the season with fresh perspective and just the right amount of nostalgia.

The first advertising films were made by the firm of Kuhn and Webster. Edwin S. Porter soon to become the greatest director of the Edison Company, was the Kuhn and Webster projectionist running their pictures on an open top air screen atop the Pepper Building, Herald Square, New York. From behind a curtain three men appear on screen. The first wears a combination of tuxedo and kilt. The second wears a Scottish kilt and holds a spear and a shield. The third wears a military tunic and sword. All three attempt to dance a version of the Highland Fling. In the background a banner with the words Scotch Whisky emblazoned on it is clearly visible. Early silent film which utilises stereotypical notions of Scotland to sell a product.

The Ritz Cocktail of New York was one of the first cocktails that Dale DeGroff ever created. He created it when he was working for Joe Baum at the Aurora in New York around 1985, and his first Head Bartending job. He had been browsing through Ted Saucier’s “Bottom’s Up”, and noticed cocktails attributed to both the London and Paris Ritz, and he decided that there needed to be a Ritz Cocktail for New York. Back in the '80s, Maraschino liqueur was fairly obscure, but Dale was enamored with the flavor profile it brought to the table. He also wanted to make sure he featured fresh lemon juice in the drink, instead of the typical (in those days) sour mix. The result was a drink which was fresh and festive, and became the most popular drink at Aurora. There is nothing in this drink that would be hard to find these days, which makes it a perfect candidate for being a modern classic! Recipe: 3/4 oz brandy or Cognac 1/2 oz Cointreau 1/4 oz of Maraschino Liqueur 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice 3 oz. Champagne Instructions: Shake first three ingredients with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Top with Champagne. Garnish with a flame orange zest. Ever New... New York, 1962 Narrated by Edward Joseph Herlihy - A film about changes in New York City and the building of the Equitable Life Assurance Building at 120 Broadway in 1962. New York Airways Vertol 44 helicopter landing at the Wall Street Heliport - Michael Findlay killed on roof of Pan Am Building travelfilmarchive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gN501W2gfOE Edward Joseph "Ed" Herlihy (August 14, 1909 – January 30, 1999), an American newsreel narrator for Universal-International http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0379051/ Edward Joseph Herlihy was born in Boston on Aug. 14, 1909, and was educated at Boston College. He graduated in 1932 and got his first radio job at WLOE in Boston. He joined NBC in 1935. http://www.nytimes.com/1999/02/02/arts/ed-herlihy-89-a-voice-of-cheer-and-cheese.html New York Airways was a helicopter airline in the New York City area. Founded in 1949 as a mail and cargo carrier, on July 9, 1953 it may have been the first scheduled helicopter airline to carry passengers in the United States. Passenger flights started with Sikorsky S-55 military helicopters, but Sikorsky and the Boeing Company soon designed civil helicopters. New York Airways added three S-58s to its five S-55s in 1956; in 1958 the Boeing Vertol V-44, a 15-seat civil version of the Piasecki H-21 took over. In 1962 they transitioned to the tandem rotor, twin turbine engine powered Boeing Vertol 107-II Turbocopter and later operated the twin turbine engine Sikorsky S-61. In February 1955 the one way fare from LaGuardia to Idlewild was $4.50. The ship was a Sikorsky H-19, N418A. The trip took ten minutes and their phone number was DEfender 5-6600. Scheduled flights to the top of the Pan Am Building began in December 1965; they ended in 1968, then resumed for a few months in 1977. On May 16, 1977, the landing gear failed on a Sikorsky S-61L (N619PA) while it was taking on passengers on the roof of the Pan Am Building. The aircraft rolled onto its side. Its spinning rotor blades killed four passengers waiting to board (including movie director Michael Findlay) and injured a fifth. Parts of a broken blade fell into the streets below, killing one pedestrian and injuring another. The accident precipitated the permanent closure of the heliport. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Airways Michael Findlay (1938–1977), along with his wife Roberta Findlay, directed and produced numerous sexploitation movies. They have been described as "the most notorious filmmakers in the annals of sexploitation". In 1965 he directed The Sin Syndicate, a false documentary about prostitutes turning State's evidence against the Mob, and the infamous Satan's Bed starring a then-unknown Yoko Ono (three years before she met The Beatles' John Lennon). This is actually two films edited together. In the unfinished Judas City, Ono plays the fiancee of a drug pusher who is eventually robbed and raped. Findlay added a secondary story about three addicts on a crime spree who terrorize several women. Roberta Findlay plays one of their victims. This was followed by Take Me Naked (1966), a lurid story written by Roberta Findlay about a depraved Peeping Tom, whose fantasies involve his neighbor (played by Roberta Findlay). Michael Findlay also appears as the "Angel of Hell." Death On May 16, 1977, Michael Findlay was killed in a helicopter accident on the roof of the Pan Am Building in New York City. The accident occurred shortly after the 5:33 PM arrival of the New York Airways helicopter from John F Kennedy Airport. It was in the process of taking on 21 passengers for the return trip when the landing gear failed and the aircraft tipped on its side while the rotors were still running. Findlay and two other passengers in the process of boarding were slashed to death as the spinning rotors detached and disintegrated. Another male passenger died later in hospital. A woman on the street was killed when hit by falling debris. A "Michael Findley" of Manhattan was named in press reports as being one of the three men on the roof killed instantly when "literally cut to pieces". Other reports claimed the bodies were not "transsected" but had "deep lacerations". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Findlay In September 1960, Pan Am founder Juan Trippe signed a 25-year, $115,500,000 lease with the building's developer, Erwin Wolfson, allowing the airline to occupy 613,000 square feet (56,900 m2), or about 15 floors, plus a new main ticket office at 45th Street and Vanderbilt Avenue. When it opened on March 7, 1963, the Pan Am Building (as it was known at the time) was the largest commercial office space in the world by square footage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetLife_Building

https://www.expedia.com/explore/south-korea/seoul.d178308 Welcome to Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Start your adventure at the K-Style Hub, a state-of-the-art visitor centre where South Korea’s past, present and future converge. At the head of Gwanghwamun Square sits the statue of Sejong the Great, whose reign oversaw a golden age of literature, science and technology. The great leader sits before the grandest of Seoul’s five royal palaces, Gyeongbokgung, the Palace of Shining Happiness. A short bus or subway ride to the east, are the adjoining palaces of Changdeokgung and Changgyeongung, while just to the south at Deoksugung Palace, see the changing of the guard which takes place three times each day. Just to the west, is the last of Seoul’s great palaces, Gyeonghuigung, a royal refuge in times of unrest. After exploring Seoul’s temple complexes, see how ordinary Koreans once lived at the Namsangol Hanok Village. Then explore the Korea Furniture Museum where over 2000 exquisite items of furniture are displayed within ten traditional houses. The story of Korean craftsmanship continues at the National Museum of Korea, which houses national treasures such as the Ten Story Pagoda. Close to Seoul’s great South Gate is Namdaemun Market, where locals have been bargaining hard for over 600 years. Looking for some Gangnam style? Head just upriver to Samseong-dong, the Beverly Hills of Seoul. Spend a few hours in the wooded surrounds of the Bongeunsa Buddhist Temple, a peaceful antidote to the fierce pace of Seoul’s shopping. Then hike to the peak of Namsan, and take in the sweeping views from Seoul’s iconic tower. When the sun gets low, join locals on the banks of the Han River to see the Banpo Bridge erupt in waves of water and light.

Here's our version of "Angels We Have Heard on High," with a few other Christmas favorites mixed in. Can you name them all? We wrote and performed this in the same style of our music video "What Makes You Beautiful" http://thepianoguys.com/portfolio/one-direction-what-makes-you-beautiful/. ALL the sounds you hear were created by different parts of the piano (except the vocals of course). We wanted this to be a fun music video full of "Christmas Spirit." While the video primarily presents the "fun" side of Christmas (complete with cameo appearances by Christmas icons which "helped" us film), we wanted the music to portray what, to us, is the true meaning of the Holiday season. As we wrote it we imagined the "shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night." And how the Angel appeared to them, announcing the humble birth of the Savior of the World. How incredible it would have been when, "suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!" (Holy Bible, Luke Chapter 2) We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We love you! Rising from the waters of Venice Lagoon is the Italian city of Venice, a city like no other. Begin your visit in the central district of San Marco, and walk upon one of the world’s great squares, St Mark’s Square. The square is surrounded by some of the city’s finest jewels such as St Mark’s Basilica, St Mark’s Campanile and Doge’s Palace. Just outside stand the Columns of San Marco and San Teodoro. From here, journey along one of the world’s great aquatic thoroughfares, The Grand Canal. Glide past elegant palazzos; once the homes of wealthy merchants, today many of these palaces house important museums and galleries. Known as The City Of Bridges, Venice has hundreds to explore. The Accademia Bridge links the San Marco district to the Accademia Gallery, and offers some of the Grand Canal’s finest views. The oldest of the Grand Canal’s four crossings is the Rialto Bridge, which today still serves as the gateway to the Rialto Markets. The most famous of all is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace to the historic prison. Venice is a city to get lost in, so put away your map and let her surprise you. Discover waterfront promenades of The Zattere and the sleepy canals and spacious piazzas of Castello. On the tiny island of Murano, glassmakers have been creating works of incredible delicacy and color for over 700 years. Further across the lagoon, the island of Burano is famed for its brightly colored houses and exquisite lace. Venice has shone her light into the far corners of the world for over one and a half thousand years. Just remember, this city smiles upon those who linger. So stay for a few nights, or stay for a month, and savor every moment she has to offer. http://www.expedia.com/Venice.d179981.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

MaximsNewsNetwork: 30 August 2009 - MINUSTAH: With the security situation in Haiti relatively stable over the last months, a lot of Haitians from the diaspora returned to the country this summer - for a vacation on the beach. On a Sunday afternoon in Raymond les Bains, the beach is animated by the Troubadou music typical of Jacmel. In a relaxed atmosphere, vendors make their business. Everyone is enjoying the beach and the water. SOUNDBITE (Creole) Yolette Claude, tourist from Boston: Its a pleasure for me when people talk about the beach at Raymond les Bains. I am very proud when I hear that because Raymond les Bains is my home. The South-East has a lot of potential for tourism and for its inhabitants. The mayor of Cayes-Jacmel is aware of it. He has his own vision on how to rehabilitate the beach and how to build the necessary facilities in order to bring it to international standards. SOUNDBITE (Creole) Janvier Pierre Feguito, Mayor Cayes-Jacmel: In the project we have, we are going to plant coconut trees, up to three meters high, and then bamboo on the other side. That should bring some green to the surroundings. Together with the ministry of tourism the mayor is already looking for investors who could help to finance this project. On a weekend, especially during the summer holidays, up to 2,000 people come to the beach. Sanitary blocks and changing rooms need to be installed; the beach restaurants, known as choucounes need to be equipped with freezers and parking lots need to be built. SOUNDBITE (Creole) Roger Amisial, tourist from Boston: When we came at the entrance, we almost didnt make it because it was totally blocked. And the place was not full, so I dont know why. There were too many cars, parked all over. This needs to be improved, but besides that I think it will be improving, it is a good start. Some people are already benefiting from the visitors at the beach; Will Jean Jeremie and her husband are well known for her seafood specialties. SOUNDBITE (Creole) Will Jean Jeremie, Food Seller: I am preparing fish, lobster, conch, pork and sometimes rice. If the space is rehabilitated, it will be better for us. It brings the tourists and that is good, because the local population doesnt have the money to buy our food. Since Haiti has been quite stable within the last few months, a lot of Haitians from the diaspora are coming back to the country and back to their roots. A group of diaspora Haitians from New York came to spend their summer holidays at Timounage beach, the other public beach in Cayes-Jacmel. SOUNDBITE (English) Jackie Michel, tourist from New York: We are actually from NY. This is my first time visiting, we came on a family vacation, to visit where my family is from. We are having a good time. My family always talks good about Haiti; I have always heard positive things about how they grew up. My parents also wanted me to know my heritage, where they came from. They wanted me to appreciate what I have in America. That is pretty much why I decided to come. Some of the diaspora tourists even get the idea to invest in the country and to leave something sustainable behind. SOUNDBITE (English) Justin Yitzharalin, Tourist from Martinique: The other places already have their tourism, they have something. In Haiti you feel there is something to do, to give to the population who is starving. Honestly, I see myself working here and giving something to the people with my heart. There is not doubt about it. Many tourists, from the diaspora but also from Haiti, will find peaceful moments this summer at the beaches in Cayes-Jacmel, with or without rehabilitation. My name is Erika and welcome to my YouTube channel. I've had this channel since 2009 but only started uploading regularly last year. I am a born and raised New Yorker. I've been a performer my whole life and in 2009 was offered the job of a lifetime - performing for Disney Cruise Line. Over three years with the company, I portrayed some of Disney's most beloved characters, danced my heart out, and met my husband! In 2013, I moved up to Toronto, Canada and studied for my full STOTT Pilates certification. Then, that summer, my husband and I got our first apartment on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, NY! In December 2013, my husband (then boyfriend) came home from his last ship contract and proposed! We got married at The Russian Tea Room in New York City on January 24th, 2015. We love adventure, and after 3 years living in Manhattan, in May 2016, we moved down to Celebration, Florida! In December 2016, I danced in the Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Studios and had the time of my life! Although we've loved Florida, in May 2017, we moved back to New York to be closer to family and friends. In June 2017, we got the best news in the world - that we were expecting our first baby due March 2018. We are so excited that our little family is growing! PHEW.. So that's my story! I don't know what adventures lie ahead but I am SO excited to share them with all of you!

https://www.expedia.com/Yosemite-National-Park.d180672.Destination-Travel-Guides Yosemite National Park sits on the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most visitors spend their time in Yosemite Valley, which despite being only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide, packs in more jaw-dropping scenery than just about any other place on Earth. Near the valley entrance stop at Tunnel View, and stand before a panorama that’s reduced generations of visitors to silence. From Tunnel View it’s just a short drive to Bridalveil Fall. Fed by snowmelt, the fall reaches its thundering peak in May. The Yosemite Valley ring road follows the banks of the Merced River, which shifts in character as it thunders from the valley walls, before gently winding across the valley floor. The ring road is dotted with trailheads that lead to 800 miles of hiking trails. The Four Mile Trail climbs the valley’s southern wall to two of Yosemite’s great outlooks, Glacier Point and Washburn Point. Further along the ring road is the trailhead for The Mist Trail, which offers stunning views of Vernal and Nevada Falls. For thousands of years, the Ahwaneechee had villages throughout this valley, but it was at the base of Yosemite Falls where their great chief resided. Take the one-hour hike to the lower falls, or spend the day climbing all the way to the upper falls. To the north of Yosemite Valley, is Tioga Road, one of the USA’s most scenic highways. Fill your lungs with alpine air at Olmsted Point, refresh yourself by the waters of Tenaya Lake, then spend the day at Tuolumne Meadow, the traditional summer hunting grounds of the Ahwaneechee. From its high country to its waterfalls, its towering sequoia groves to its valley meadows, Yosemite is an American story unlike any other.

Begin your adventure at The Castle of Good Hope, the centerpoint from which the city grew. Nearby you’ll find Company’s Garden, the Parliament Building, and the South African Museum. Don’t miss the District Six Museum, which gives voice to the 60,000 non-white residents who saw their vibrant multi-racial neighborhood flattened during the darkest days of the Apartheid era. One neighborhood that was spared from apartheid’s wrecking ball is Bo-Kaap, where traditional Cape Malay culture continues amid the row houses of this colorful hillside suburb. Visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, and explore attractions such as Two Oceans Aquarium. The waterfront is also the gateway to one of the world’s most infamous prisons, Robben Island. Table Mountain is Cape Town’s most beloved landmark. From the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, take a walking trail up the mountain, or take the Cableway for the spectacular ride to the viewing area. Cape Town is one of the world’s great beach cities. From Green Point, the site of Cape Town’s futuristic stadium, follow the coast and discover one incredible beach after another. Cape Town’s riches don’t end with its beaches, it’s also blessed with some of the best wine country in the world. After touring the acclaimed wineries of Paarl and Stellenbosch, head up Franschhoek Pass and wander hillsides filled with Proteas. In local tradition, the Protea represents transformation, courage and hope. Cape Town is a city which shares the same soil, so it’s not surprising that it embodies those same qualities too.
