A total of 372 foreign nationals (excluding the 19 perpetrators) perished in the attacks, representing just over 12% of the total. The immediate deaths include 246 victims on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the World Trade Center and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. About 292 people were killed at street level by burning debris and falling bodies of those who had jumped or fallen from the World Trade Center's windows.

Walking tour around Downtown Manhattan - known to be the financial district of New York. It has also been known to be the location of the World Trade Center. To commemorate the unforgettable 9/11, the place was converted to National September 11 Memorial & Museum or 9/11 Memorial. The location of the Twin Towers, where it once stood, was converted into pools or waterfalls. Just a few blocks walk will lead to the financial capital of the country - Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange. ►►►Support me on Patreon◄◄◄ If you enjoy watching my videos and want to support my future projects, please visit my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/windwalktravelvideos Let's Connect: ►Subscribe: https://goo.gl/sS5fQZ ►Patreon: https://patreon.com/WindWalkTravelVideos ►Facebook: https://facebook.com/WindWalkTravelVideos ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/WindWalkTravels ►Instagram: https://instagram.com/WindWalkTravelVideos ►Reddit: https://reddit.com/r/WindWalkTravelVideos ►Tumblr: https://windwalktravelvideos.tumblr.com #WorldTradeCenter #OneWorldTradeCenter #Oculus #DowntownManhattan #WallStreet #NewYorkStockExchange #911Memorial #NewYorkCity #NewYork #BigApple #FreedomTower #OneWorldObservatory

With millions of visitors - both residents and tourists -- building the excitement in Downtown Dubai, the Burj Khalifa fireworks display was a true spectacle of artistic creativity. Starting off with a dramatic countdown through a display of effects racing up to the pinnacle of Burj Khalifa, 828 metres high, the fireworks began with spectacular sequences including a colourful salute to the nation with the colours of the UAE National Flag. Silver pearls lend an unmatched ambience in a sparkling celebration of Dubai's success, especially with its win to host the World Expo 2020. Another stunning display was the tribute to Burj Khalifa, with the fireworks evolving into petals, wrapping the tower much like the Hymenocallis desert flower, which inspired the design of the building.

Today, more than five years after Hurricane Sandy hit New York City, the five boroughs are still recovering from the storm. Sandy did $19 billion in damage to NYC, and the rate of development along the city's coastlines has only increased. New York now has more residents living in high-risk flood zones than any other city in the nation. Local city-planning experts have worried how NYC will cope when the next superstorm inevitably hits the city. The construction of the World Trade Center was conceived as an urban renewal project, spearheaded by David Rockefeller, to help revitalize Lower Manhattan. The project was developed by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which hired architect Minoru Yamasaki who came up with the specific idea for twin towers. After extensive negotiations, the New Jersey and New York State governments, which oversee the Port Authority, agreed to support the World Trade Center project at the Radio Row site on the lower-west side of Manhattan. To make the agreement acceptable to New Jersey, the Port Authority agreed to take over the bankrupt Hudson & Manhattan Railroad (renamed as PATH), which brought commuters from New Jersey to the Lower Manhattan site. The towers were designed as framed tube structures, which provided tenants with open floor plans, uninterrupted by columns or walls. This was accomplished using numerous closely spaced perimeter columns to provide much of the strength to the structure, along with gravity load shared with the core columns. The elevator system, which made use of sky lobbies and a system of express and local elevators, allowed substantial floor space to be freed up for use as office space by making the structural core smaller. The design and construction of the World Trade Center twin towers involved many other innovative techniques, such as the slurry wall for digging the foundation, and wind tunnel experiments. Construction of the World Trade Center's North Tower began in August 1968, and the South Tower in 1969. Extensive use of prefabricated components helped to speed up the construction process. The first tenants moved into the North Tower in December 1970 and into the South Tower in January 1972. Four other low-level buildings were constructed as part of the World Trade Center in the 1970s, and a seventh building was constructed in the mid-1980s.

The US city of Chicago has unveiled a new tourist attraction. Visitors can now view the city by leaning on tilting windows from a tall building. The windows give visitors a downward facing view of the city from the top of the John Hancock building. Eight people at a time can experience a steady descent that lasts just over a minute. It eventually leaves people aboard the tilt facing out of a window at a thirty degree angle and leaning three-hundred and four meters high. The glass and steel platform is part of a multi-million dollar renovation to the observation deck on the ninety-fourth floor of the building.

Three years after completing his first New York City building, an affordable housing complex in Harlem called the Sugar Hill Development, starchitect David Adjaye is back. This time, he’ll be working with David Lichtenstein’s Lightstone Group to design a 61-story, 750-foot-tall condominium in the Financial District at 130 William Street known as the Wall Street Tower. Early conceptual studies uncovered by CityRealty show a gold-trimmed prism set against rigid rows of arched windows, as well as a glimpse at what the 244 apartments and amenity spaces will look like. Lightstone bought the site at 130 William Street for $60 million in 2014 and paid another $15 million the following year to buy additional air rights; it’s expected value is $701 million. When it opens in 2020, the building is expected to be one of the tallest in the neighborhood. Views from the skyscraper include the Statue of Liberty, the Woolworth Building, City Hall Park and the East River. ack in March, Lightstone secured a $305 million construction loan from Mack Credit Real Estate Strategies and plans to use $112.5 million of its own cash and land equity for the project. Adjaye Associates, who garnered international acclaim for their design of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in DC, will be working with the firm Hill West Architects on the design. créditos https://www.6sqft.com/ THBD - Good For You Title: Good For You Artist: THBD Genre: Dance & Electronic Mood: Happy Artists: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCht8...

The Trump Tower Climber was spotted scaling the side of Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan this afternoon. Cops tried to corral the man -- creating a spectacle in the heart of New York City as the real estate mogul campaigned hundreds of miles away from his flagship building. The climber, using a contraption made up of five suction cups, has been scaling the building for at least an hour. The NYPD said he was at the 16th floor around 5:30 p.m. He started climbing at the 5th floor atrium, which is accessible to the public. Police and the fire department have responded to the scene and could be seen removing vents and breaking holes in windows of the building. The man appeared to change his path at one point, shimmying sideways to avoid holes that police sawed into ventilation grates, where officers were leaning out.As the scene unfolded, a crowd formed below on Madison Avenue. Some people cheered the man and whistled. When the climber slipped, gasps could be heard. Amazing video footage i took at the world trade center from the ground, observation deck and roof in the summer of 2001. I hope you like it and thanks for watching. I have also uploaded my video with extra footage and added music. Here is the link and i hope you like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjHXG3zm5SQ Although most of the space in the World Trade Center complex was off-limits to the public, the South Tower featured an indoor and outdoor public observation area called Top of the World Trade Center Observatories on its 107th and 110th floors. The original World Trade Center was a complex with seven buildings featuring landmark twin towers in Lower Manhattan, New York City, United States. The complex opened on April 4, 1973, and was destroyed in 2001 during the September 11 attacks. The site is currently being rebuilt with five new skyscrapers and a memorial to the casualties of the attacks. As of November 2011, only one skyscraper has been completed, with four more expected to be completed before 2020. One World Trade Center will be the lead building for the new complex and is expected to be finished by 2013. A sixth tower is still awaiting confirmation to be built. At the time of their completion, the original 1 and 2 World Trade Center were the tallest buildings in the world. The complex was designed in the early 1960s by Minoru Yamasaki and Associates of Troy, Michigan, and Emery Roth and Sons of New York. The twin 110-story towers used a tube-frame structural design. To gain approval for the project, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey agreed to take over the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad, which became the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH). Groundbreaking for the World Trade Center took place on August 5, 1966. The North Tower (1) was completed in December 1972 and the South Tower (2) was finished in July 1973. The construction project involved excavating a large amount of material, which was later used as landfill to build Battery Park City on the west side of Lower Manhattan. The cost for the construction was $400 million ($2,200,000,000 in 2011 dollars). The complex was located in the heart of New York City's downtown financial district and contained 13.4 million square feet (1.24 million m2) of office space. The Windows on the World restaurant was located on the 106th and 107th floors of 1 World Trade Center (the North Tower) while the Top of the World observation deck was located on the 107th floor of 2 World Trade Center (the South Tower). Other World Trade Center buildings included the Marriott World Trade Center; 4 World Trade Center; 5 World Trade Center; 6 World Trade Center, which housed the United States Customs. All of these buildings were built between 1975 and 1981. The final building constructed was 7 World Trade Center, which was built in 1985. The second King Kong was filmed in 1976 with some scenes mentioning and showing the World Trade Center. The World Trade Center experienced a fire on February 13, 1975, and a bombing on February 26, 1993. In 1998, the Port Authority decided to privatize the World Trade Center, leasing the buildings to a private company to manage, and awarded the lease to Silverstein Properties in July 2001. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Al-Qaeda-affiliated hijackers flew two 767 jets into the complex, one into each tower, in a coordinated terrorist attack. After burning for 56 minutes, the South Tower (2) collapsed, followed a half-hour later by the North Tower (1), with the attacks on the World Trade Center resulting in 2,753 deaths. 7 World Trade Center collapsed later in the day and the other buildings, although they did not collapse, had to be demolished because they were damaged beyond repair. The process of cleanup and recovery at the World Trade Center site took eight months. The first new building at the site was 7 World Trade Center, which opened in May 2006. The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC), established in November 2001 to oversee the rebuilding process, organized competitions to select a site plan and memorial design. Memory Foundations, designed by Daniel Libeskind, was selected as the master plan, which included the 1,776-foot (541 m) One World Trade Center, three office towers along Church Street and a memorial designed by Michael Arad. #911 #New York #2001 The Walk Cast: Joseph Gordon-Levitt Ben Kingsley Charlotte Le Bon James Badge Dale Directed by: Robert Zemeckis

These are live-tv-recordings of the hit of the second plane and the collapsing of the two towers of the World trade center on 11 September 2001. As It Happened - The Initial Bulletins ---- The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights. 2,973 victims and the 19 hijackers died as a result of the attacks. The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries. In addition, the death of at least one person from lung disease was ruled by a medical examiner to be a result of exposure to dust from the World Trade Center's collapse. The United States responded to the attacks by launching the War on Terrorism. It invaded Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, who had harbored al-Qaeda terrorists. The United States also enacted the USA PATRIOT Act. Many other countries also strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded law enforcement powers. Some American stock exchanges stayed closed for the rest of the week following the attack and posted enormous losses upon reopening, especially in the airline and insurance industries. The destruction of billions of dollars worth of office space caused serious damage to the economy of Lower Manhattan. The damage to the Pentagon was cleared and repaired within a year, and the Pentagon Memorial was built on the site. The rebuilding process has started on the World Trade Center site. In 2006 a new office tower was completed on the site of 7 World Trade Center. 1 World Trade Center is currently under construction at the site and, at 1,776 ft (541 m) upon completion in 2013, it will become one of the tallest buildings in North America. Three more towers were originally expected to be built between 2007 and 2012 on the site. Ground was broken for the Flight 93 National Memorial on November 8, 2009, and the first phase of construction is expected to be ready for the 10th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2011.

'Tilt', a new feature at 360 CHICAGO, the observation deck at John Hancock Center, allows participants a more immersive viewing experience than just looking out a wall of windows. The attraction tilts downwards 30 degrees, giving sightseers a fresh perspective on what lies below. From 1 thousand feet in the air, viewers are treated to unique vistas of Lake Michigan, the Magnificent Mile, and the city's skyline. That is, if they can stomach the movement and overcome their vertigo. 'Tilt' consists of a tipping platform, 8 windows, bars to hold onto, and a lot of steel. In total the metal box weighs 31 thousand pounds. Adventurers take their place, hold on, and watch as the logic-defying angle adjustment begins. All the while the hydraulic system and the three pistons it powers emit a bit of an industrial roar. One of the first to try the feature out was Kevin Tibbles, a correspondent for NBC. The experience prompted him to Tweet, "Yikes...a thousand feet up and the window's moving!" Tickets for 'Tilt' can be had for an additional 5 dollars when a pass to the observation deck is purchased.

A 25-year-old French daredevil did a tightrope walk across the top of New York in 1974 - on a 131-foot cable strung between the 110-story twin towers of the World Trade Center. The aerialist, accomplished juggler and unicyclist, is Philippe Petit, who said, “I see three oranges and I have to juggle. I see two towers and I have to walk.” The stroll, 1,350 feet above street level, lasted 50 minutes, from 7:05 to 7:55 a.m. Four times the 25-year-old Petit, who started out from the north tower, walked to a point near the south tower and then back north. Once he sat down on the wire cable - which is an inch in diameter - and another time he lay down on his back on the cable. The IHNC Lake Borgne Surge Barrier also called the Great Wall of Louisiana is a storm surge barrier constructed near the confluence of and across the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet near New Orleans. The barrier runs generally north-south from a point just east of Michoud Canal on the north bank of the GIWW and just south of the existing Bayou Bienvenue flood control structure. Navigation gates where the barrier crosses the GIWW and Bayou Bienvenue reduce the risk of storm surge coming from Lake Borgne and/or the Gulf of Mexico. Another navigation gate (Seabrook Floodgate) has been constructed in the Seabrook vicinity where the IHNC meets Lake Pontchartrain to block a storm surge from entering the IHNC from the Lake.

To be honest, I was quite nervous to see how New York would react to this Kim Jong-Un social experiment. I was surprised as to the positive reception he received. There was a lot of comedy, a little bit of catcalling and only a tiny bit of street harassment. In a strange way, it gives me hope that differences can be resolved between all the countries and that we can find a way to co-exist as well as find a way to help the people of North Korea. Water towers in the café. A fire hydrant in the hallway. Google's New York City office has gone on a hiring binge, and has tricked out its offices so that new employees know they're working in New York. WSJ's Andy Jordan takes an exclusive look inside Google's Chelsea office in Manhattan.

This male voice is Kevin Cosgrove. He was stuck in the tower while calling. He kept trying to get some support from the emergency services, which tried to reassure him. There are some other 911 tapes from two callers in the towers, that have been exhibited since the Moussaoui Trial. I uploaded the full tape so you can hear the whole call, even if it sounds long, you could guess it would even sound longer to that guy.

Take a walk through the Financial District, at the southern tip of Manhattan visiting the One World Trade Center and going up the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and into the National September 11 Memorial Museum. Click to Subscribe http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu Starting out at the oldest park in New York City, Bowling Green, then along Wall Street and up to One World Trade, soon brings us to one of the most unusual buildings in New York, it's the Oculus. This vast soaring space has been compared to a cathedral, or being inside a whale, or big dinosaur bones, but whatever it is, it's astonishing and inspiring. Next door you'll find the September 11 Memorial fountains on the site of the original World Trade Towers. And beneath these fountains is the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, which you'll find to be one of the most somber and profound experiences of your New York visit. From the plaza you can't miss the tallest building in the Americas, One World Trade. And you enter in, follow the signs up the escalators to the lobby. The elevator takes you up 100 floors in 47 seconds with what looks like a view but actually it's a very clever video screen all around you as you go up, a prelude of the real thing. The observation platform is wonderfully designed with the dark floor and ceiling and vast picture windows to give you the view, especially nice on a day when the weather is clear and the facility was not very crowded – easy to get right up to the window and gaze out all you want in all directions. The main vista is looking down at Lower Manhattan, Tribeca, the Village and then up to the band of skyscrapers in Midtown. http://tourvideos.com/
