Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town. You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below. https://www.expedia.com/lp/destinations/178293 New York City is an international metropolis built on the shoulders of immigrants and their descendants. New York City is home to eight million people, and the city receives more than 50 million visitors per year. Your New York City tour should include sampling the food of hundreds of different cultures, and you can explore the easily on foot, by taxi, or via the famous subway system. No New York sightseeing is complete without a visit to Times Square, which you’ve no doubt seen in many movies. Take in its billboards, its many people, and its food, then cross over to Central Park, which comprises 850 acres of lakes and meadows, and is the setting for many a romantic comedy. You also have your pick of art and history museums, as well as the Reflecting Absence Memorial and Museum, where you can pay your respects to the victims of 9/11. Most of all, enjoy yourself, and get ready to take a bite out of the Big Apple. I run in Central Park almost every day (in fact I've run #everypath a few times), and along the way I've found quite a few hidden secrets. Here's a list of my top 12 secrets of Central Park. And along the way, 12 random facts about the Park too. If you liked these, be sure to check out my 12 Hidden Secrets in BRYANT PARK: https://youtu.be/tFuoWREu4QU The secrets and facts are organized by geography. I start in the Southeast corner of the Park and end in the Northwest corner. You can follow my path, all 6.3 miles, here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1290896362 12 Secrets: 1. They could be found to be hassle-free for taxis, ideas for tourist guide, guidelines for the personnel, and little souvenirs at craft establishments. New York City, the city that never ever rests, is always moving faster compared to other places. If you intend to stroll around, walking around with a load of cash is never a wise thing to do. Be sure to bring your credit card this way you could use the ATM machine. It is now simpler than ever to acquire money in foreign nations. If you are browsing around the City, every financial institution accepts a bank card. We recommend making usage of the financial institution, and not make use of convenient shops. New York is magical during the Holidays! Here are my favorite things to do in the city at Christmas time... 1. Rockefeller Center This is one of the most crowded areas in NYC at this time. Try to come early or late and avoid the crowd! 2. Sacks Fifth Avenue Light Show Right across the street from the Rockefeller tree is Sacks Fifth Avenue. Their holiday light show gets better every year so don't miss it! 3. Holiday Window Displays Start at the bottom of Central Park and walk down admiring the incredible Holiday Window Displays at some of New York's most famous stores: Barneys - 660 Madison Avenue between 60th and 61st Streets Bloomingdale's - 59th Street and Lexington Avenue Bergdorf Goodman - 754 Fifth Avenue at 58th Street Tiffany & Co - 727 Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets Cartier - 653 Fifth Avenue at 52nd Street Saks Fifth Avenue - 611 Fifth Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets Lord Lord & Taylor - 424 Fifth Avenue at 39th Street Macy's - Sixth Avenue and 34th Street 4. Macy's Believe Campaign Believers of all ages can bring their stamped letter to Macy’s addressed to 'Santa at The North Pole', and drop it into the special letterbox. You can also create and send a letter online at macys.com/believe. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1,000,000! Also, if you're looking to shop at Macy's. For the three days leading up to Christmas it is open 24 hours and it's nearly empty if you go late or early. It's almost unheard of to shop in a store that's not crowded at Christmas time in New York - so take advantage of it! 5. Holiday Markets New York's Holiday Markets are the perfect place to find a unique gift. With hundreds of vendors between all of the markets - you are sure to find something for everyone on your list. Some of the biggest markets are at Union Square, Columbus Circle and Grand Central Station. 6. Ice Skating Ice Skating in New York is a Christmas tradition! The best and most iconic ice skating rinks are at Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and Central Park. 7. Explore! The best thing about New York is that you can walk everywhere. Take 'wrong' turns and see what magic you find. Little Italy is one of my favorite areas to go at this time of year. 8. Rooftop Bars Rooftop Bars are a must in New York any time of year. But don't be discouraged by the cold! A nice warm drink and some heat lamps make them a great winter activity - and a perfect date idea! Some of my favorites are 230 Fifth (location in the video), The Ides, Hudson Hotel and Refinery Rooftop. Enjoy your time in New York City! Try not to spend too much time shopping - there is so much magic to be seen in one of the most iconic places to be this time of year :) COME SAY HI :) Instagram - http://instagram.com/rayawashere Twitter - https://twitter.com/rayawashere Tumblr - http://raya-was-here.tumblr.com/ Snapchat - RayaWasHere

Want Some Travel Advice for Visiting New York City & Getting the Most Out of Your Visit? Well here we have 5 tips for travelers and tourists heading to New York, the Big Apple! These tips will help you enjoy more of what to see and do and enjoy in New York! filmed on Ellis Island Copyright Mark Wolters 2016 Tip #1. Walking is a way of life in New York, so don't stop in the middle of the sidewalk. You will get run over. Step to the side to take your pictures of the Empire State Building or Times Square. Tip #2. Be Ready! Whether it is to pay the check or pay for a drink or get on the subway be ready to pay as things move quickly in New York and the locals will get annoyed at you for wasting their time. Tip #3. Have Cash... oddly enough there are still a lot of places in New York (comparatively) that still only take cash. ATMs are everywhere and they charge a lot for withdrawals. Tip #4. You can enjoy New York without busting your budget. With museums that have suggested prices where you can pay what ever you want, to free nights at museums and free sights you can see New York and still have some money left over, though the hotels are insane expensive no matter what. Tip #5. Use the toilet before you leave your hotel. New York public toilets are nasty so make sure you use the toilet before you leave the hotel. 10 Things That Will SHOCK You About the Southern USA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szbyA3Bic_w How Not to Be a Bad Tourist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KebJkfLoEfA How Pickpockets Work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8JFxbevCQc USA Today & 10Best's #1 Independent Travel Videographer 2014 FlipKey by TripAdvisor Top 10 Travel Bloggers 2014 Our Equipment Sony Alpha a6000 Digital Camera. ** This video is in partnership with FUJIFILM Hi guys! Today I’m sharing with you my mini trip to New York City with FUJIFILM. I was lucky enough to be able to attend their event for their new product the InstaxSQ6! This camera is absolutely adorable and perfect for the summer. I think instant cameras are so much fun, and it’s really nice to be able to have physical copies of your photos to post on your fridge or make a fun scrapbook. The InstaxSQ6 is cool because it shoots the photos in square format, so you don’t even have to think about whether you should be shooting in portrait or landscape, you just grab and go kind of thing! This video I’m sharing with you my experience at the event, and also what I did and saw in New York City. I visited High Line Park, Washington Square Park, Times Square, Soho, The Flat Iron Building, and more! I hope you enjoy my mini adventure in NYC! Visiting the Big Apple of New York City Can Be Amazing or Something Besides Amazing. Here we go through the best and the worst of visiting New York City. From the I LOVE NYC Shirt crowd to the amazing culture and food, to the toilets that make you not want to go to the bathroom and smells that remind you of your junior high cafeteria 20 years ago. The 5 Things you Will Love & Hate about Visiting New York City! Filmed on Ellis Island, USA Copyright Mark Wolters 2016 The Hates of New York City #1. The random nasty smells that New York sometimes produces. #2. #3. Your Subway Experience - the subway goes everywhere in New York and that is awesome, however the crowded rush hour traffic, the interesting people and mistaking a local and an express train can make it for a bit of a headache. #4. Your Sidewalk Experience. Make sure you step to the side when you want to take pictures in NYC. Otherwise be prepared to be bowled over by locals, tourists and any number of random things. #5. The lack of clean public toilets... just make sure you use the toilet before you leave the hotel and if you really need a toilet the museums tend to have decent public toilets. The Loves of New York City #1. Exploring and Wandering New York - from seeing the Empire State Building for the first time to strolling Central Park and Brooklyn there is so much to enjoy just walking around and enjoying New York. #2. The amount of cultural opportunities New York has - from world class museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art to the American Museum of Natural History to the Museum of Modern Art and Ellis Island, New York and around has a number of cultural outings for all types of travelers. #3. The New York-isms - from having a slice of NYC pizza to bagels at a diner to a deli lunch to the crazy people screaming and the iconic sights, New York is so... New York and you will love it! #4. The Diversity and Multiculturalism of New York City. From the numerous neighborhoods, restaurants and bodegas to the languages, foods and fun, there is something from everywhere and for everyone in New York. #5. The New Yorkers - though they get a bad rap, the people of New York really are great and can be one of the most enjoyable and surprising parts of visiting New York City. We travel a lot and at times being vegan on the road means less eating out and more cooking in our van for ourselves. But, NOT IN NYC! We splurged and dined out quite a bit and bring you along to each and every plant based New York restaurant we try ♥♥ SHOP OUR HANDMADE CHAI https://chaiwalachai.com/ ►► CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE + join our van life adventures: http://bit.ly/2DDSUgu Eamon and I have been vegan for nearly two years (vegetarian for a few before) and it was and continues to be the best decision we've ever made. Not only do we feel better, lighter, and more full of energy but we also live a lifestyle that we know contributes less to the endless suffering of innocent animals and to the destruction of our planet. Below is a list of the restaurants we visited: Jungle Cafe ♥ buffet plate, tacos and cold pressed juice Paulie Gee's ♥ margarita + arugula pizzas Champ's Diner ♥ cookies + cream milkshake, birthday cake milkshake, mozzarella sticks, chicken fried sandwich, breakfast slam Beyond Sushi ♥ fungi dumplings, squash dip, sushi rolls Eats by Chloe ♥ whisky bbq burger, guacamole burger, mac and cheese Everything was 100% vegan and most of it was 100% delicious ;) If you can believe we weren't exploding from all that food, we loved snacking on many different healthy foods in our sprinter van tiny home. Some of our favourites are: - Hummus and rice crackers/raw veggies - Fresh Fruit - Many different fruit smoothies - Raw nuts and dried fruits (raisins, apples, cranberries, apricots, dates) - Rice and whole grain crackers - Protein Shakes If you have any questions about what we eat or how we make, please let us know in the comments below! Growing up on a small farm in rural New Mexico, Rusty Heath remembers his mother telling him on summer mornings "go do whatever you're going to do, don't hurt yourself, and we'll see you later." He and his twin brother would spend their days horse back riding, camping, and fishing...without adult supervision. Rusty's wife, Leah, also a New Mexico-native, had a similarly free-range childhood. "We would go and ride our bikes and chase lizards," she says, "and we were out there till we felt like coming back, and I don't remember anyone coming looking for us." After a recent move to New York City, the Heaths found themselves reluctant to extend similar freedoms to their own kids, Cassidy, 10, and Riley, 12. "[They're] on a much tighter leash than I was," says Rusty. "I feel like my family is my responsibility and it's difficult to put your kids' safety at risk." Enter Lenore Skenazy, who's a regular Reason.com contributor, a former New York Daily News and New York Sun columnist, and the host of a new show on the Discovery Life Channel called America's Worst Mom. Skenazy, who launched the free-range kids movement in 2008 after getting wide attention for a column explaining why she let her nine-year-old son take the subway by himself, recently started making house calls to nervous parents. Skenazy came by the Heath home one evening. Click the video above to find out what happened next. Produced, shot, and edited by Jim Epstein. 4 minutes and 22 seconds. New York is the birthplace of many things, but for today's purposes, we're sticking to pizza. Frank starts with a quick history lesson from Scott Wiener, the owner of Scott's Pizza Tours. Then, we hit the streets to see and taste the history for ourselves. The best thing about the city's pizza scene is that it's relatively young, so you can still eat slices from the ovens of the people that started it all and put New York pizza on the map. We meet the granddaughters of the man that literally brought pizza over from Naples, and even see the ovens that he used. Then, we hit all the best slices from Greenwich Village to Soho, and finish in Brooklyn at Luigi's Pizza, a place untouched by time. These three places, however, don’t even get on the top 20 places to actually live, in this year’s Quality of Living Index, a yearly list compiled by HR firm, Mercer. Apparently, if you want to live the good life, you should move to Vienna, Austria, Zurich, Switzerland, or Auckland, New Zealand. The top twenty list doesn’t include any cities from the UK or the USA, two countries that have arguably been the two heavyweights in the last century regarding power and wealth. These two countries, however, contain cities that attract millions of overseas visitors every year. Today we are going to compare them, in this episode of the Infographics Show, New York City vs London.
