Drugs That Cause Erectile Dysfunction & Lower Your Libido -
Cholesterol Lowering Statins
As a man ages, his youthful hormones such as testosterone, slowly decline which causes many men a decrease in sex drive and can eventually lead to erectile dysfunction.
Unfortunately, modern day lifestyle, the foods we eat, the extra stress, the radiation from electronic gadgets and so forth, is making this situation happen a lot sooner and it’s much worse than it needs to be or should be.
Sadly, most people don’t realize that many of the medications and drugs - prescribed or even over the counter - can ALSO cause libido and erectile problems.
And that’s what I’ll be discussing today, in addition to natural solutions and alternatives.
Today’s question is from Daniel and he asks:
“A few months ago I started taking a statin drug to lower my cholesterol. However, I’ve noticed I started having erectile problems. Things don’t seem to work as well. In fact, I’m just not in the “mood” or have the drive for sex like I used to. Do you think the statin drug is the cause?”
Hi Daniel. To answer your question - YES!
In fact, it’s been clinically shown that statin cholesterol lowering drugs do in fact, cause erection problems and impotence.1
And this is because statin drugs lower cholesterol by blocking the enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in your liver, that is responsible for making cholesterol.
Unfortunately, cholesterol is required to make your “sex hormones” in both men and women, such as testosterone, estrogens, etc.
And these hormones, especially testosterone, is required for your sex drive, libido, erections and an orgasm.
In fact, in addition to erectile problems, both men and women taking statin drugs, report having difficulty reaching an orgasm.2
Another common side-effect with statin drugs is depression.
And let’s be honest, when you’re not feeling happy or excited, then you’re not feeling “sexual” and you just don’t care or have the DESIRE to have sex, right?...
One thing I’d like to point out on the OPPOSITE side of this story and that’s having very high cholesterol can ALSO cause erectile dysfunction.
This is because of plaque build-up in your arteries, leading to poor blood flow and circulation.
So your goal is to have healthy cholesterol levels - not too high or low.
You want to do it naturally, without the use of drugs such as statins.
The truth is, 98% of people do NOT need statin drugs to lower cholesterol. I know this because I dealt with this problem back in 1998 with both my parents. You can easily do it naturally.
A healthy diet, regular exercise program and more importantly, the specific use of clinically proven herbs can dramatically lower your cholesterol naturally, while ALSO improving your sex drive and libido.
